Patent number: 10422899Abstract: A deterministic method for selecting a set of encoding weights for simultaneous encoded-source inversion of seismic data that will cause the iterative inversion to converge faster than randomly chosen weights. The encoded individual source gathers are summed (83), forming a composite gather, and simulated in a single simulation operation. The invention creates multiple realizations of the simulation (84), each with its own encoding vector (82) whose components are the weights for the shots in the composite gather. The encoding vectors of the invention are required to be orthogonal (82), which condition cannot be satisfied by random weights, and in various embodiments of the invention are related to eigenvectors of a Laplacian matrix, sine or cosine functions, or Chebyshev nodes as given by the roots of Chebyshev polynomials. For non-fixed receiver geometry, an encoded mask (61) may be used to approximately account for non-listening receivers.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2015Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: ExxonMobil Upstream Research CompanyInventors: Reeshidev Bansal, Pavel Dimitrov

Patent number: 10421464Abstract: The invention regards a method, a system and a vehicle for analyzing a rider performance. The vehicle is any vehicle that employs a roll angle change for changing its driving direction. Firstly, physical motion parameters of the vehicle in motion are sensed and the measured data is supplied to computing unit. In the computing unit, segments in a time series of measured data are determined by processing the measured data in the computing unit. Each segment corresponds to a rider control behavior and the plurality of such consecutive rider control behavior build a riding maneuver. In the computing unit, the measured data within one segment for at least one of the segments is analyzed by computing at least one characteristic value for the respective segment and/or the sequence of determined segments is analyzed. Finally, an analysis result indicating the rider performance or rider skills is output.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2017Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: HONDA RESEARCH INSTITUTE EUROPE GMBHInventors: Martin Heckmann, Herbert Janssen, Nils Magiera, Hermann Winner
