Abstract: Method for acquiring zero offset data from a marine seismic survey. Seismic data are recorded using source signature monitor receivers located very near the air guns or other sources (81). The recorded data are sorted into common-source gathers (82). A common trace is computed that is common to each gather (83). The common trace is subtracted from each trace in each gather (84), resulting in approximately zero-offset data.
Abstract: An apparatus for discriminating a disguised face includes a face area detector configured to detect a face area in an input image provided from an external source. The apparatus includes a skin color modeling module configured to separate a skin color area from the face area and a disguised face discriminator configured to determine whether signals in the skin color area have a pulse component to discriminate whether a face in the input image is the disguised face.

Abstract: The present invention provides a cylindrical magnetic levitation stage and an exposure apparatus, which can form a nanoscale pattern of a large area directly on the surface of a large cylinder. The present invention provides an exposure apparatus including a new type of cylindrical magnetic levitation stage, which can levitate, rotate, and move a cylinder in the axial direction by the principle of magnetic levitation in a non-contact manner and form a nanoscale pattern on the surface of the cylinder, and a light source for irradiating light on the surface of the cylinder, thereby reducing the position error of the cylindrical magnetic levitation stage to a nanoscale size and correcting the error caused by mechanical processing in real time.

Abstract: A method for a three phase power flow analysis of an ungrounded power distribution system partitions a topology of the power distribution system into a mainline system and a set of tap systems, wherein the mainline system is formed by mainline buses connecting a swing bus and a set of constant active power and voltage magnitude (PV) buses, wherein the tap system is formed by one or many tap buses, such that a root bus of each tap system corresponds to a mainline bus. Next, the method determines voltages of the mainline buses based on a function of a total load of each tap system; and determines voltages of tap buses based on a voltage of the corresponding root bus of the mainline and load of each tap bus.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing synthetic genes and combinatorial DNA and protein libraries, termed here Divide and Conquer-DNA synthesis (D&C-DNA synthesis) method. The method can be used in a systematic and automated way to synthesize any long DNA molecule and, more generally, any combinatorial molecular library having the mathematical property of being a regular set of strings. The D&C-DNA synthesis method is an algorithm design paradigm that works by recursively breaking down a problem into two or more sub-problems of the same type. The division of long DNA sequences is done in silico. The assembly of the sequence is done in vitro. The D&C-DNA synthesis method protocol consists of a tree, in which each node represents an intermediate sequence. The internal nodes are created in elongation reactions from their daughter nodes, and the leaves are synthesized directly. After each elongation only one DNA strand passes to the next level in the tree until receiving the final product.

Abstract: Iron/carbon (Fe/C) nanocomposite catalysts are prepared for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction. A preparation method includes steps of mixing iron hydrate salts and a mesoporous carbon support to form a mixture, infiltrating the iron hydrate salts into the carbon support through melt infiltration of the mixture near a melting point of the iron hydrate salts, forming iron-carbide particles infiltrated into the carbon support through calcination of the iron hydrate salts infiltrated into the carbon support under a first atmosphere, and vacuum-drying the iron-carbide particles after passivation using ethanol. Using such catalysts, liquid hydrocarbons are produced.
