Abstract: Macular degeneration, closed head injury, stroke, irritable bowel disease, and reperfusion injury are all associated with biological injury due to reactive oxygen species, probably due to focal iron overload in many instances. The present invention provides methods and pharmaceutical compositions for treating these diseases and conditions using desferrithiocin analogs of Formula (I). In certain embodiments, the analogs include a poly ether moiety at the 4?-position of the phenyl ring of the compound.

Abstract: A system for extracting carbon source from sewage sludge in sewer pipes through online organic and inorganic component separation includes an outer system box, where the outer system box is provided therein with a system body; the system body includes a deodorization module, a pre-treatment module, and a cyclone separation module that are sequentially connected from top to bottom; an upper side wall of the cyclone separation module is provided with an oversize residue pressing module; and the pre-treatment module, the cyclone separation module, and the oversize residue pressing module are electrically connected to a control module. The present disclosure achieves online and on-site quick treatment of the sewage sludge in the sewer pipe, and solves common practical problems arising in the existing centralized treatment and disposal method of sewage sludge in the sewer pipe.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cleaning an edge ring pocket are described herein. One of the methods includes providing one or more process gases to a plasma chamber, supplying a low frequency (LF) radio frequency (RF) power to an edge ring that is located adjacent to a chuck of the plasma chamber. The LF RF power is supplied while the one or more process gases are supplied to the plasma chamber to maintain plasma within the plasma chamber. The supply of the LF RF power increases energy of plasma ions near the edge ring pocket to remove residue in the edge ring pocket. The LF RF power is supplied during the time period in which a substrate is not being processed within the plasma chamber.

Abstract: Intravascular imaging catheters are provided that include a distal sheath portion having a lumen that is configured to optionally receive a guidewire or an imaging assembly. The distal sheath portion may be configured to have dimensions such that when a guidewire is inserted through the lumen and extends through a distal exit port, the distal sheath portion may be employed as a microcatheter. External tissue may be imaged at a location at or near the distal end of the catheter, enabling, for example, the controlled imaging of a total occlusion, and the positioning of the distal end (and guidewire) within a true lumen associated with a total occlusion. A structural stop may be provided at or near the distal end of the distal sheath portion to prohibit extension of the imaging assembly out of the distal exit port, while permitting the extension of the guidewire through the distal exit port.

Abstract: A method for electrostatically clamping an edge ring in a plasma processing chamber with an electrostatic ring clamp with at least one ring backside temperature channel for providing a flow of gas to the edge ring is provided. A vacuum is provided to the at least one ring backside temperature channel Pressure in the backside temperature channel is measured. An electrostatic ring clamping voltage is provided when the pressure in the backside temperature channel reaches a threshold maximum pressure. The vacuum to the backside temperature channel is discontinued. Pressure in the backside temperature channel is measured. If pressure in the backside temperature channel rises faster than a threshold rate, then sealing failure is indicated. If pressure in the backside temperature channel does not rise faster than the threshold rate, a plasma process is continued, using the backside temperature channel to regulate a temperature of the edge ring.
