  • Patent number: 11931330
Abstract: A composition for promoting mitochondrial biogenesis includes an effective amount of an azelaic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. Azelaic acid, which is a compound mainly contained in cereals and natural products has the advantage of no or little side effects, and induces mitochondrial autophagy and mitochondrial DNA synthesis in cells, thereby having activity of increasing mitochondrial density. Therefore, azelaic acid can be used for the treatment of mitochondrial dysfunction-associated disease caused by the failure of homeostasis control of the mitochondria, for example, mitochondrial activity or the decrease in the number of mitochondria.

  • Patent number: 11934354
Abstract: A method for pre-processing files that can improve file compression rates of existing general-purpose lossless file compression algorithms, particularly for files on which traditional algorithms perform poorly. The elementary cellular automata (CA) pre-processing technique involves finding an optimal CA state that can be used to transform an original file into a format (i.e., an intermediary file) that is more amenable to compression than the original file format. This technique is applicable to multiple file types and may be used to enhance multiple compression algorithms. Evaluation on generated files, as well as samples selected from online text repositories, finds that the CA pre-processing technique improves compression rates by up to 4% and shows promising results for assisting in compressing data that typically induce worst-case behavior in standard compression algorithms.

  • Patent number: 11932262
Abstract: Stochastic nonlinear model predictive control (SNMPC) allows to directly take uncertainty of the dynamics and/or of the system's environment into account, e.g., by including probabilistic chance constraints. However, SNMPC requires the approximate computation of the probability distributions for the state variables that are propagated through the nonlinear system dynamics. This invention proposes the use of Gaussian-assumed density filters (ADF) to perform high-accuracy propagation of mean and covariance information of the state variables through the nonlinear system dynamics, resulting in a tractable SNMPC approach with improved control performance. In addition, the use of a matrix factorization for the covariance matrix variables in the constrained optimal control problem (OCP) formulation guarantees positive definiteness of the full trajectory of covariance matrices in each iteration of any optimization algorithm.
