Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating a precoder for uplink transmission from a mobile station. The method includes receiving information corresponding to a first precoding matrix and a second precoding matrix, and generating the precoder by linearly combining the first precoding matrix and the second precoding matrix. In the method, the first precoding matrix maximizes a transmission power between the mobile station and a serving base station, and the second precoding matrix minimizes an average interference value between the mobile station and at least two neighboring base stations.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing efficient reputation management schemes resilient to malicious attacks. Methods for providing a reputation management scheme can comprise representing sets of service providers, raters, and ratings of service providers as a factor graph, wherein a factor node is associated with a function representing the probability distributions of the arguments of the function given the trustworthiness value and the ratings associated with a rater; and calculating the probability distributions of each variable in the reputation values of the set of providers using a belief propagation algorithm. In some embodiments, the computational complexity of the method is linear in the number of service providers and raters. In some embodiments, the method can identify malicious behavior and accordingly adjust the trustworthiness value for raters associated with malicious behavior.

Abstract: A system for the production of ethanol and co-products is provided. The system facilitates an overall reduction in the use of energy, for example, by reducing the mass of wet solids supplied to a distillation system. The system also reduces the amount of energy used to dry the wet solids component of a fermentation product, for example, by increasing the ethanol concentration of the wet solids. The system also facilitates the recovery of co-products including bioproducts and other biochemicals extracted from components of the fermentation product. The solids component of the fermentation product may be dried and constituted into a meal that may be used for animal feed, among other uses.

Abstract: A biomass pyrolysis oil is used as a co-feed for a heavy petroleum oil coking process to improve the operation of the coking process and to utilize biomaterial for the production of transportation fuels. The coking process may be a delayed coking process or a fluidized bed coking process and in each case, the presence of the biomass pyrolysis oil will decrease the coke drying time while reducing coke handling problems in the unit besides forming a superior coke product. In the case of a fluidized bed coking process using a gasifier for the coke, the addition of an alkali metal salt improves the operation of the gasifier.

Abstract: A system for heated gas fusing of toner on non-porous substrates is provided. The system uses (1) an extended fusing zone held at lower temperatures than needed for a roll nip or radiant fuser, and (2) a very low melt toner which can be fused at greatly reduced temperatures compared to conventional toners. In one form, the system is realized through (a) the use of heated gas as the low temperature extended zone fusing technology, and (b) the use of ultra-low melt (ULM) toner—which requires significantly reduced temperature compared to conventional toner. On non-porous packaging substrates the use of heated gas can limit the substrate temperature to 100° C.

Abstract: An integrated laser material processing cell allowing laser-assisted machining to be used in conjunction with directed material deposition in a single setup, achieving greater geometric accuracy and better surface finish than currently possible in existing laser freeform fabrication techniques. The integration of these two processes takes advantage of their common use of laser beam heat to process materials. The cell involves a multi-axis laser-assisted milling machine having a work spindle, a laser emitter, and means for positioning the emitter with respect to the spindle so as to direct a laser beam onto a localized area of a workpiece in proximity to a cutting tool mounted in the spindle. A powder delivery nozzle mounted on the machine and positioned adjacent to the emitter delivers powder to a deposition zone in the path of the beam, such that material deposition and laser-assisted milling may be performed substantially simultaneously in a single workspace.
Abstract: A timing calibration circuit for a time-interleaved analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is provided. The timing calibration circuit includes a correlation unit, an adaptive filter and a delay cell. The correlation unit generates a first correlation coefficient according to a first zero-crossing possibility distribution between a first digital data and a second digital data, and generates a second correlation coefficient according to a second zero-crossing possibility distribution between the second digital data and a third digital data. The adaptive filter generates a predicted time skew according to a difference between the first correlation coefficient and the second correlation coefficient. The delay cell calibrates a clock signal of the ADC according to the predicted time skew.
