Abstract: As keys of the keyboard of a portable communication device are asserted, the device dynamically determines at least a portion of a corresponding telephone number to present on the device's display by, at least in part, considering likelihoods of differing explicit and implicit interpretations of these key assertions. By one approach this can comprise according a likelihood advantage to an explicit interpretation of one or more of the key assertions and/or implicit interpretations of such key assertions. These likelihood advantages need not be necessarily dispositive with respect to the resultant interpretation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating resources using a directional beam in a wireless communication network is provided. A coordinator device calculates the number of flows able to be concurrently transmitted with each flow that is generated between the nodes and a transmission time of the each flow, and groups together the flows based on the calculation result. In addition, the coordinator device allocates resources to the respective nodes such that the nodes which generate the flows belonging to the same group can transmit the flows concurrently. Thus, the amount of the overall concurrent transmission can be maximized.

Abstract: Call control for originating and terminating calls in a visited circuit-switched subsystem (CS) or home multimedia subsystem (MS) as well as transferring calls between the visited CS and the home MS may be anchored at a continuity control function (CCF) in the home MS. Call signaling for the call may be passed through the CCF. When the user element is homed to the home MS and served by the visited CS, the bearer path for the call is established based on the relative proximity of the home MS and the visited CS. When a local MS is more proximate to the visited CS, the bearer path may be routed through a gateway in the local MS, instead of through the gateway in the home MS. When the home MS is sufficiently proximate to the visited CS, the bearer path is routed through the gateway in the home MS.
Abstract: A new methodology to exchange a random secret key between two parties. The diverse physical characteristics of the wireless medium and device mobility are exploited for secure key exchange. Unique physical characteristics of wireless channels between the two devices are measured at different random locations. A function of these unique characteristics determines the shared secret key between the two devices.
