Abstract: The present invention is directed to particular monoclonal antibodies and fragments thereof that find use in the detection, prevention and treatment of Streptococcus pneumoniae infections. In particular, these antibodies may kill Streptococcus pneumoniae or limit the replication of Streptococcus pneumoniae. Also disclosed are improved methods for producing such monoclonal antibodies.

Abstract: A tissue cassette includes a body having a first floor and a first perimeter wall encircling and extending from the first floor so that the first floor and first perimeter wall at least partially bound a body cavity, the first floor having a plurality of spaced apart openings extending therethrough. A mold has a second floor and a second perimeter wall encircling and extending from the second floor so that the second floor and second perimeter wall at least partially bound a mold cavity, the second floor having at least one micropore extending therethrough, the at least one micropore having a maximum diameter less than 0.040 inches. A hinge couples the body to the mold so that the body and mold can move between a closed position wherein the first floor overlies the second floor so as to form a tissue compartment therebetween and an open position.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a system for providing additional information through a digital media content are provided. The method includes: detecting an item selected by a user selection when the user selection is sensed in a media content that is being reproduced; judging whether the user selection is a first selection for primarily selecting the item or a second selection for secondarily selecting the item in a set time after the item is primarily selected; and highlighting at least a portion of the item according to a set display format according to whether or not additional information linked to the item is present in the case in which the user selection is the first selection and displaying the additional information linked to the item in the case in which the user selection is the second selection.

Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device may include a portable housing including electrically conductive sections defining a perimeter of the portable housing and configured to function as an antenna. One of the electrically conductive sections may include a base, a first electrically conductive arm extending from the base, and a second electrically conductive arm having a proximal portion parallel and spaced apart from the first electrically conductive arm. A printed circuit board (PCB) may be carried by the portable housing. The mobile wireless communications device may also include wireless transceiver circuitry carried by the PCB and coupled to the antenna.

Abstract: Provided are a modulation method and a demodulation method for satellite communication using a widespread signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the method including: adding a dummy frame to a broadcasting/communication signal frame for signal transmission of a digital video broadcasting-satellite second generation (DVB-S2) modulator; verifying a spreading factor; adding the same physical layer header to the broadcasting/communication signal frame to which the dummy frame is added, repeatedly the number of times corresponding to the verified spreading factor; and repeating the same data, for example, PL frame data as the physical layer header.

Abstract: The synthesis and evaluation of gastroprotective effect of different tryptamine derivatives. Tryptamine derivatives have been synthesized by formation of amide or ester with some known anti oxidant molecules. These derivatives show excellent antioxidant property in vitro. Among all the derivatives the compound SEGA (3a), that was prepared by the combination of serotonin with gallic acid shows the greater antioxidant property than the other synthesized compounds both in vivo and in vitro. SEGA(3a) shows the gastroprotective effect against NSAIDs (indomethacin or diclofenac)-induced gastropathy in dose dependent manner and also accelerates the healing from injury. It prevents the NSAIDs-induced mitochondrial oxidative stress in vivo. This derivative prevents NSAID-induced mitochondrial oxidative stress-mediated apoptosis in vivo by preventing the activation of caspase 9 and caspase-3 and restores NSAIDs-mediated collapse of mitochondroial transmembrane potential and dehydrogenase activity.

The cooperative caching method of a local base station in a mobile communication system using caches of base stations cooperatively connected with each other includes determining, when a request for data is received from a client, whether the data is stored in the cache of the local base station; sending, to a home base station, upon determining that the data is not stored in the cache, a request for the data; acquiring the data from one of the home base station and a server according to whether the data is stored in the home base station; and serving the data to the client.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electrostatic aerosol concentrator for the concentration of aerosol particles and their collection for subsequent analysis. The concentrator comprises an airflow chamber that includes alternately energized and grounded electrode elements that work in concert to impart radial inward motion to charged aerosol particles and focusing them toward an enriched aerosol outlet. If desired, filtered air inlets may be used to provide a sheath of aerosol-free air along the chamber periphery and prevent deposition of particles onto electrode surfaces. Aerosol particles entering the airflow chamber may carry a positive or negative charge naturally, or a charge may be induced on the particles using a charging section located upstream of the aerosol inlet. Natural or induced charges on the aerosol particles may be used to selectively concentrate subpopulations of aerosol particles from a mixture of particles.
