Abstract: Methods and compositions for increasing the production of large amounts of empty capsids of the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) in a stable manner in mammalian cells by regulating the expression of FMDV 3C protease. The instant methods and compositions are based on the fact that a decreased expression of 3C protease results in a reduced cell toxicity and an increased synthesis of viral capsid proteins, as well as production of recombinant empty capsids. The invention provides recombinant plasmids that direct the expression of P1, 3C, and the use of the plasmids for producing new stable cell lines capable of generating high titers of FMDV empty capsids. The invention provides methods for regulating the expression of the FMDV 3C protease gene at a transcriptional and translational level in order to achieve the required process level of 3C protease for the selection process, as well as the production process.

Abstract: An optical sensor includes pixels. Each pixel has a photodetector. A readout circuit performs a process over an exposure time where the photodetector is connected to a reverse bias voltage supply to reset a voltage across the photodetector, and the photodetector is disconnected from the reverse bias voltage supply until that the voltage across the photodetector decreases in response to received ambient light. An ambient light level is then determine an based on a number of times the voltage across the photodetector is reset over the exposure time.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for selective deposition of etch-stop layers for enhanced patterning during semiconductor manufacturing. One method includes an operation for adding a photo-resist material (M2) on top of a base material (M1) of a substrate, M2 defining a pattern for etching M1 in areas where M2 is not present above M1. The method further includes operations for conformally capping the substrate with an oxide material (M3) after adding M2, and for gap filling the substrate with filling material M4 after the conformally capping. Further, a stop-etch material (M5) is selectively grown on exposed surfaces of M3 and not on surfaces of M4 after the gap filling. Additionally, the method includes operations for removing M4 from the substrate after selectively growing M5, and for etching the substrate after removing M4 to transfer the pattern into M1. M5 adds etching protection to enable deeper etching into M1.
