  • Patent number: 4675690
Abstract: A photoresist-type chemical etching process is used to define a computer-generated flat pattern of conductors as if a complex conical spiral had been cut apart along a straight line through the apex and laid flat. The substrate in the shape of a circular sector is bent into a cone and the radial edges are joined in a seam. The split turns of the spiral are electrically interconnected across the seam.

  • Patent number: 4672973
Abstract: A battery-operated device and method for determining the skin type of a living subject is disclosed in which an oil sample carried by a probe is subjected to the impingement of an essentially monochromatic light source of predetermined wavelength. The amount of light passing through the oil sample is detected and an output current proportional thereto is produced. This output current is amplified and drives a meter which displays the skin type of the subject. Calibration means and a method for calibrating the meter utilizing an oil-free probe are disclosed, as well as a means for adjusting the bandwidth of the output of the amplifier to coincide with the meter.

  • Patent number: 4673932
Abstract: A computerized transceiver repeatedly sweeps through a set of transmit/receive frequencies to interrogate collectively a plurality of groups of items in a stocking area. Items in each group are tagged with a printed circuit transponder tuned to frequencies uniquely assigned to each group. Data turned is stored and combined mathematically by the computer to arrive at the total number of items in each group. The system is particularly adapted for taking inventory of a large number of retail shelf goods using a mobile transceiver.

  • Patent number: 4623793
Abstract: A battery-powered device and method for determining the skin type of a living subject is disclosed in which an oil sample carried by a probe is subjected to the impingement of an essentially monochromatic light source of predetermined wavelength. The amount of light passing through the oil sample is detected and an output voltage proportional thereto is produced. This output voltage is amplified, integrated and then drives an LED display which indicates the skin type of the subject. Calibration means and a method for calibrating the device utilizing both an oil-free and oily probe are disclosed. The calibration means include both means for adjusting the bandwidth of the output of the amplifying circuit and gain control means for adjusting the output voltage of the amplifying circuit.

  • Patent number: 4579133
Abstract: A compact comprises a bottom container and a top housing. The container includes a front wall with an undercut section therein, a back wall, and an intermediate floor connected at an angle to the back wall. The housing includes an applicator and a key or button for extending the applicator from the housing. The button is engagable with the undercut section of the front wall of the container so that the housing is locked together with the container. The invention also relates to a method of using the compact. The method comprises the steps of unlocking an undercut lock interconnecting the container and the housing, unlocking a snap lock interconnecting the applicator with the housing, and unlocking a wedge lock holding the container in a closed position.
