  • Patent number: 4712186
Abstract: A braking effort regulation system is improved by providing a rotary speed signal, which is accurate even under slow rotation conditions. To obtain an accurate analog value of the rotary speed of a rotating object, typically the wheel of an automotive vehicle, from a transducer (1) having at least approximately sinusoidal output voltage, the transducer output voltage (u.sub.S, u.sub.S1) is converted into a digital signal (u.sub.S2), preferably filtered to obtain a filtered signal (u.sub.S3). The inverse function (y.sub.2 =arc sin (A.sub.o sin .omega.t)=c(.epsilon..sub.R 7.omega.t), y.sub.2 =arc sin (A.sub.o sin .omega.t) is then calculated. By differentiation and determination of the differential value of the signal y.sub.2, a signal (y.sub.R, y.sub.3) is then obtained which, after an additional preferably filtering step, will result in the desired speed-representative output signal (n.sub.R).

  • Patent number: 4712064
Abstract: A magnetoresistive sensor used for emitting of electric signals in dependency on the position or the speed of a ferromagnetic body includes magnetoresistive measuring strips (10) on a substrate (12) which are exposed to a stationary magnetic field (H) such that a large field component (H.sub.y) extends perpendicular to the measuring strips and a substantially smaller field component (H.sub.x) in the plane of the measuring strips and at an angle of about 45.degree. to the direction of a measuring current flowing through the measuring strips. By approaching a ferromagnetic body (14) to the stationary field (H) additional field components (H.sub.z and H.sub.t) start acting on the measuring strips. The magnetic field component H.sub.t generated in the plane of the measuring strips changes in dependency on the position or speed of the ferromagnetic body and affects measuring current accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4709969
Abstract: A brake pressure booster for vehicle brake systems, which can also be used to realize anti-skid functions, including a displaceable element, in the form of a permanent magnet, disposed in a pressure chamber and acted upon indirectly by the master brake cylinder to apply pressure to a brake fluid communicating with a wheel brake cylinder. The pressure chamber is embodied such that with increasing or decreasing brake pressure of the master brake cylinder, a transfer storage of potential energy that simultaneously increases in one or the other direction takes place, whereby it becomes possible to raise or lower the pressure of the wheel brake cylinders in the manner of boosting. Furthermore, by providing an electrical exciter coil, influence can also be exerted upon the boosting action of the brake pressure booster by an additional influence upon a magnetic position in order to generate anti-skid functions.

  • Patent number: 4709684
Abstract: To control the ON or conduction time of a transistor (4) serially connected with the primary winding (2) of an ignition coil, the voltage drop across the collector or base respectively, and emitter is sensed and used as a control parameter with respect to a set or reference value determining current flow through the ignition coil under conditions of complete discharge of stored energy from the ignition coil. Conditions of complete discharge occur within a first speed range; in other speed ranges, in which residual stored energy remains within the ignition coil, indicative of current flow therethrough starting from a value other than zero or null, the voltage sensed across the transistor is compared with the reference value, and the current flow time adjusted in dependence on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 4708596
Abstract: A pressure and delivery regulating device for an adjustable pump includes a directional control valve connected in a discharge conduit and to a control conduit branching from the discharge conduit between the pump and the directional control valve. The control conduit leads to a setting piston for the adjustment of the pump. The directional control valve is controlled by a solenoid which in turn is controlled by a control system consisting of a regulating circuit, a delivery limiting circuit and a control circuit for the solenoid. The output signal from the regulating circuit controls a desired delivery value signal supplied to the delivery limiting circuit. A follow-up circuit connected between the regulating circuit and the delivery limiting circuit corrects the regulating signal and a circuit for producing a direction dependent signal from the actual pressure provides a damping of the regulating circuit.

  • Patent number: 4708114
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which for normal engine operation the control of the injection quantity and of the beginning and end of supply for injection is effected by means of a control slide which is axially displaceable on the pump piston and in which a radial bore (connecting conduit) controlled by the pump piston is present in the pump cylinder, with which radial bore the pump work chamber can be made to communicate with the suction chamber of the pump. The latest end of supply for the injection is determined in that after a predetermined stroke of the pump piston a relief conduit is arranged to coincide with the radial bore and thereby relieve the pump work chamber. Because the radial bore is only blocked after a pre-stroke has been executed by the pump piston the earliest supply onset also can be controlled with this bore as well.

  • Patent number: 4706626
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having in-line pumping elements, having pump pistons on which control slides are axially displaceable, in particular for adjusting the injection onset; in a relatively greatly displaced position, these control slides being arranged to interrupt the injection. The control slides are moved by first and second governor rods, each part of which carries one group of driver members of the control slides, and both governor rods are rotatable relative to one another. As a result, it is possible for normal operation to be controlled by the one governor rod, while at the same time an appropriate number of engine cylinders is shut off by the other governor rod, in that the associated control slides are displaced into respective corresponding positions.

  • Patent number: 4705983
Abstract: To improve resistance to vibration and shock, while permitting ready access for replacement of brushes of an alternator, the remote end shield (8) is formed as a reinforced plastic injection-molded or pressure-cast structure, integral with a hub for the remote bearing of the rotor and the brush holder for the brushes engaging slip rings (10, 11) on the rotor shaft. An opening (33) extending from approximately the radially outermost part of the brush holder to the end of the remote bearing plate permits access to the brushes for maintenance or replacement. The surface region of the end plate is formed with an engagement surface (35) against which a voltage regulator can be attached, having a projecting terminal blade electrically connected with one of the brushes by a compression spring and/or an eyelet rivet and a pigtail attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4704949
Abstract: This application relates to a piston having two sets of three roller bearings mounted by means of milled grooves in a lightweight skirt of less diameter than the piston head. Each triangularly arranged set of roller bearings is symmetrically arranged to give a rolling three point stability and rolling anti-friction support to the piston as it reciprocates in the cylinder. Lubrication of the roller bearings is enhanced by openings through the piston skirt in the area of the oil rings above the roller bearings. The roller bearing axles are mounted in milled grooves.
