Abstract: A disclosed process includes steps of heating a foamed material by irradiation with near infrared radiation having a wavelength between 0.78 and 1.40 ?m to form a heated material, forming the heated material with a forming tool to obtain a formed material, and cooling the formed material and demolding to obtain a final workpiece. The foamed material may be constructed as a composite ply construction including an outer material and a foamed core between the outer material. The foamed material may contain a poly(meth)acrylimde, a polypropylene or a highly-crosslinked polyurethane.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for oxidative esterification, generally for reaction of aldehydes with alcohols in the presence of oxygenous gases directly to give the corresponding ester in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, by means of which, for example, (meth)acrolein can be converted to methyl (meth)acrylate. The new catalyst has titanium dioxide as the main component of the support material. The catalysts are especially notable for high mechanical and chemical stability and for good catalytic performance even over very long periods. The process is an improvement in the catalyst service life, activity and selectivity over prior art catalysts which lose activity and/or selectivity relatively quickly in continuous operation in media having even a small water content.

Abstract: A transparent, heat-sealable coating for transparent PET packaging foils can be provided by using a heat-sealable lacquer based on styrene-containing copolymers, on poly(meth)acrylates, on at least one polyester and optionally on a tackifier, and also the process for the sealing of a foil coated with this lacquer.
