Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for performing a heterogeneously catalyzed reaction for oxidative esterification of aldehydes to give carboxylic esters. Against this background, it has been possible by the present process according to the invention to perform such processes for longer periods without disruption, with constant or even increased activities and selectivities. This gives rise to the possibility of performing such processes in a very simple, economically viable and environmentally benign manner.

Abstract: A process is useful for producing optical molding materials on the basis of methyl methacrylate (MMA), wherein this MMA has been produced by an optimized method and the molding materials feature in particular a very low yellowness index. This MMA has been produced by direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. In particular, an optimized workup of the reactor output from the oxidative esterification of methacrolein is useful for removing particularly discoloring byproducts. This process moreover has the advantage that fewer demands than described in related art are placed on plant apparatus configuration.

Abstract: Brittle acrylic films are made from impact-modified polyalkyl (meth)acrylate and are useful in forgery prevention labels containing the same. The films can be advantageously prepared by extrusion and, depending on the desired purpose, can be designed to be translucent or entirely non-transparent e.g. white. Ideally, the brittle acrylic films and the forgery prevention labels have no intended break points such as slits, perforation etc.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel catalysts for oxidative esterification, by means of which, for example, (meth)acrolein can be converted to methyl (meth)acrylate. The catalysts of the invention are especially notable for high mechanical and chemical stability even over very long periods. This especially relates to an improvement in the catalyst service life, activity and selectivity over prior art catalysts which lose activity and/or selectivity relatively quickly in continuous operation in media having even a small water content.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing clamping jaws for drill chucks, in which a pin is provided made from a blank, on which are formed a row of teeth furnished for engaging in a thread associated with the drill chuck and, axially offset on the side of the pin opposite the row of teeth, a clamping surface extending at an angle to the axis of the pin; in which at least one of the steps of quenching, carburizing, nitriding, and annealing is carried out to improve the material properties of the pin; and in which additional hardening is subsequently carried out in at least one region of the clamping jaws. The invention also relates to a clamping jaw and to a drill chuck having such clamping jaws.

Abstract: The present invention encompasses a novel soil-repellent reactive resin seal for markings or coating of areas of ground or trafficways, for example roads, based on cold plastic. Compared to established prior art systems, this sealing leads to reduced adhesion of soil, especially in hot and/or dry, dusty environments. Thus, the marking retains better visibility than conventional markings, even in dry, hot regions. Otherwise, the marking sealed in accordance with the invention has comparable mechanical properties to the prior art.

Abstract: A chuck apparatus for the fastening to a working spindle (2) of a tool machine, with a chuck body (8) comprising a receptacle (7) for the working spindle (2), with at least two chuck jaws (9) which can be adjusted radially to the body axis, and with a drive ring (10), for whose rotation taking place in the circumferential direction a drive (11) is provided, comprising a structure is formed on the drive ring (10) on its outer circumference or its inner circumference for each chuck jaw (9) and which serves for its adjusting. The invention furthermore relates to a rapid replacement system (1) with the chuck apparatus (3) as a base flange (4) and with a replacement flange (5).
Abstract: The present invention relates to peelproof security films made from a poly(meth)acrylate, more particularly from a polymethyl methacrylate, which comprises at most 10 wt % of or no impact modifiers. These films are highly transparent, have good printability qualities, and can be applied without intended break points. The peelproof security films can therefore find use in particular in documents, such as passports, for example, in security labels, such as road tax badges, for example, or for product theft prevention, or as price tags. These security labels are further distinguished by good weathering stability and in particular by especially good UV stability. The present invention relates more particularly to the use of these security labels, which have a thickness of not more than 2 mm, comprise at least 80 wt % of polymethyl methacrylate and contain no impact modification particles.
Abstract: An extruded matt foil has at least one layer in which glass beads are uniformly distributed in a polymer matrix with at least one fluoropolymer and at least one further layer. The matt foil has a particularly high UV-resistance, a high weathering resistance and excellent mechanical properties. Therefore, the foil is highly suitable for surface-protection of materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and for use in high-pressure laminates (HPLs).
