  • Patent number: 5018682
Abstract: A fishing reel includes a drag adjustment mechanism comprising a plurality of drag washers in the form of friction plates mounted on a master gear shaft. The drag washers are urged into contact with a master gear that is selectively connectable to a spool shaft so that the master gear can rotate together with the master gear shaft and can slip relative thereto. A drag adjustment member is mounted on the master gear shaft and is operable to move the master gear shaft to urge the drag washers toward the master gear by pushing a ball bearing and a drag spring washer to thereby cause a drag adjustment. A drag preset member is mounted on the master gear shaft and is moveable along the master gear shaft to urge the drag washers toward the master gear by pushing the drag adjustment member, the ball bearing and the drag spring washer to thereby cause a drag adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5007601
Abstract: A water depth measuring device for a fishing reel has a mounting seat integrally provided on an upper portion of a reel body. A main section of the measuring device is integrally formed and includes a watertight compartment housing electrical components such as a sensor, a controller, an indicator, a sound maker, and a power supply. A rotation detection section of the measuring device is provided in a projecting case mounted on the reel body and includes a roller mechanism having a magnet attached thereto. A roller included in the roller mechanism is biased into contact with a fishline wound on the fishing reel to rotate upon cast of the fishline from the fishing reel to cause rotation of the magnet and the generation of a flux signal. The sensor in the main section of the measuring device detects the flux signal and an indication of the length of the fishline cast is displayed on the indicator. The sound maker provides an audible signal indicating the cast of a selected length of fishline.

  • Patent number: 4986338
Abstract: A gas venting arrangement in a high speed injection molding apparatus such as a high speed die casting machine. The gas venting arrangement includes a gas vent control valve which is closable at an optimum timing and at high speed. This valve closure is achievable by providing an improved combination of a control circuit and a valve driving mechanism. The control circuit is connected to a molten metal sensor and sends a high voltage output drive signal to the valve driving mechanism when the sensor detects a first molten metal or a metal splash. The valve driving mechanism includes an electromagnetic valve connected to a pneumatic source and a pneumatically operated valve connected between the electromagnetic valve and the gas vent control valve. The pneumatically operated valve is also connected to the pneumatic source. The electromagnetic valve performs prompt change-over operation upon receiving the drive signal, and supplies driving pneumatic pressure to the pneumatically operated valve.

  • Patent number: 4958785
Abstract: There is disclosed a fishing reel drag mechanism for a spool shaft supported at both ends, comprising a pinion engaged with a master gear on a master gear shaft, a bearing for supporting the master gear shaft capable of axial movement relative to said master gear shaft but not rotation relative thereto, a ratchet wheel attached to an outer circumferential edge of the bearing which is engaged with the master gear by a one-way pawl arrangement, an a drag control arrangement which, when tightened, pushes the bearing inward on the master shaft, thus engaging the ratchet with the one-way pawl arrangement. When the spool is rotated in a reverse counterclockwise direction to pay out the fishing line, the pinion causes the master gear to rotate in a reverse counterclockwise direction. When the drag control lever is tightened down, so that the ratchet engages the one-way pawl, a braking force is applied to the master gear, thus braking the pinion and reel rotation.

  • Patent number: 4958544
Abstract: A radial arm saw, comprising a base having a column mounted thereon with a guide arm supported vertically movably on the column. The guide arm has an inverted U-shape. A saw member slides along the bottom of the guide arm by means of bearings engaging symmetrically arranged longitudinal grooves in the side walls of the arm. The grooves have lower faces inclined downwards towards the centerline. The bearings are similarly inclined and can be adjusted axially. A rectangular U-shaped locking spring is engaged with the saw member support so as to have one of the arm side walls between its arms. When the locking spring is compressed, the saw member is locked along the arm. An integral switch case is fitted within the arm and has an integral bendable cover to cover a recess for a power switch. The switch has an ON-button which can be locked to be inoperative. The back of the switch case and the arm support on the column have corresponding U-shaped grooves for fitting a wire support tray.
