Abstract: A coated article incudes a low-emissivity (low-E) coating having at least one infrared (IR) reflecting layer of or including a material such as silver or the like. The low-E coating is designed so that the coated article can realize a low U-value in combination with a high solar heat gain (g value). In the top dielectric portion of the coating above the silver, a high-low-high refractive index sequence is provided. This allows for a low U-value and a higher g value to be obtained for a given silver thickness. Coated articles herein may be used in the context of insulating glass (IG) window units, or in other suitable applications such as monolithic window applications, laminated windows, and/or the like.

  • Patent number: 11296796
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a dual parallel Mach-Zehnder-modulator (DPMZM) device comprising a DPMZM 10 having first and second inner MZMs arranged parallel to each other. The first inner MZM generates an in-phase component EI of an optical signal in response to a first driving voltage VI, and the second inner MZM generates a quadrature component EQ of said optical signal in response to a second driving voltage VQ. Further disclosed is a calculation unit 52 configured for receiving an in-phase component yI and a quadrature component yQ of a desired base-band signal, and for calculating pre-distorted first and second driving voltages VI, VQ. The calculation of the pre-distorted first and second driving voltages VI, VQ is based on a model of said DPMZM 10 accounting for I-Q cross-talk, and using an algorithm that determines said first and second driving voltages VI, VQ each as a function of both of said in-phase and quadrature components yI, yQ of said base-band signal.

  • Patent number: 11284934
Abstract: Methods for treating sleep disorders and for reducing a risk associated with developing a sleep disorder in patients via therapeutic renal neuromodulation and associated systems are disclosed herein. Sympathetic nerve activity can contribute to several cellular and physiological conditions associated with sleep disorders as well as an increased risk of developing a sleep disorder. One aspect of the present technology is directed to methods for improving a patient's calculated risk score corresponding to a sleep disorder status in the patient. Other aspects are directed to reducing a likelihood of developing a sleep disorder in patients presenting one or more sleep disorder risk factors. Renal sympathetic nerve activity can be attenuated to improve a patient's sleep disorder status or risk of developing a sleep disorder. The attenuation can be achieved, for example, using an intravascularly positioned catheter carrying a therapeutic assembly configured to use, e.g.

  • Patent number: 11287352
Abstract: A method for determining the position of an irregularity in an optical transmission fiber using an optical time domain reflectometer, the method comprising the steps of emitting a succession of sampling light pulses into the optical transmission fiber, detecting reflected light pulses resulting from the reflection of the sampling light pulses at the irregularity in the optical transmission fiber and generating corresponding time-dependent detection signals, wherein different delays are associated with detection signals corresponding to different sampling light pulses, obtaining a combined signal from the detection signals, and analyzing the combined signal for determining the position of the irregularity in the optical transmission fiber with respect to the optical time domain reflectometer, wherein the combined signal corresponds to a superposition of the detection signals.

  • Patent number: 11284997
Abstract: A heart valve prosthesis is provided having a self-expanding multi-level frame that supports a valve body comprising a skirt and plurality of coapting leaflets. The frame transitions between a contracted delivery configuration that enables percutaneous transluminal delivery, and an expanded deployed configuration having an asymmetric hourglass shape. The valve body skirt and leaflets are constructed so that the center of coaptation may be selected to reduce horizontal forces applied to the commissures of the valve, and to efficiently distribute and transmit forces along the leaflets and to the frame. Alternatively, the valve body may be used as a surgically implantable replacement valve prosthesis.
