Abstract: Reheat characteristics of polyethylene and polypropylene resins, including reheating time and resin color, are improved by adding to the resin carbon black with a primary particle size in the range of 200 to 500 nm as an infrared absorber. Thermal carbon blacks having this primary particle size are preferred over Furnace carbon blacks. Injection stretch-blow molded bottles and other thermoformed products are made from resins with carbon black infrared absorber.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a continuous filament tow, for use as a filament batt in insulating materials, comprising a continuous solid filament and a continuous hollow filament. The filament batt made from the continuous filament tow has improved compressibility and recovery compared to crimped fiber batts made from a single filament or a single denier. The present invention also includes articles comprising such filament batts and a process by which the continuous filament tow is produced.
Abstract: Circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are disclosed that include a bare elastomeric material plated with spun and/or continuous filament hard yarns. The circular knit, elastic fabrics of at least one of single jersey, French terry, and fleece are manufactured by a method that does not require a dry heat setting step. The method requires drafting the bare elastomeric material no more than about 7× its original length when knitting to form the circular knit, elastic, single jersey, French terry, or fleece fabric. The method includes contacting the knit fabric with an aqueous solution under very low tension and under conditions of temperature and pressure for a period of time sufficient to substantially set the elastomeric material.

Abstract: A new and distinct Sedum spectabile plant is provided that originated as a chance sport of the ‘Stardust’ cultivar (non-patented in the United States) while growing in a cultivated state. The growth habit is upright and vigorous. The overall plant stature is medium. Attractive light-green to lime-green foliage is formed that contracts nicely with the light pink blossom coloration. The new cultivar is well suited for providing attractive ornamentation in the gardens.
Abstract: The invention relates to a mirror head for an exterior rear view mirror for motor vehicles, comprising a mirror housing (3), which is fixed to the mirror support (4). To minimise vibrations caused by the force of the wind or similar, the mirror housing (3) has a partial flexibility in relation to the mirror support (4). By subjecting the mirror housing (3) to an appropriate force, said housing can be displaced in relation to the mirror support (4). A flexible connection between the mirror housing (3) and the mirror support (4) permits the vibrations at least to be minimised. The mirror head is designed for use as an exterior rear view mirror for motor vehicles.
