Abstract: A method and device for monitoring and optionally controlling the absolute inventory of a dynamic fluid in a vessel having at least one agitator with a rotatable shaft extending in an essentially horizontal direction, wherein there is a resultant force acting on the agitator in an essentially vertical direction in relation to the shaft and a relationship exists between the absolute inventory and the force acting on the agitator in the essentially vertical direction. The method comprises determining a correlation between the vessel absolute inventory and resultant force, measuring the resultant force, and thereby determining a relative absolute inventory within the vessel. The determined absolute inventory value may then be used as a control variable for use in controlling the absolute inventory within the vessel.

Abstract: The present invention provides a composition for use in forming an adherent, brilliant white, chemically and mechanically resistant porcelain enamel coating on aluminized steel. The composition includes a self-opacifying glass frit component which includes high levels of titanium dioxide, lithium oxide, sodium oxide, and potassium oxide. The composition is able to produce a brilliant white finish on aluminized steel in one coat without the addition of titanium oxide during milling.
Abstract: The invention describes a low tension relax process and corresponding apparatus, wherein a tension gate is incorporated into a relax zone in a yarn production process. The tension gate can be anything that produces a drag on the yarn threadline such as an air drag device, a liquid drag device, or a solid surface contact drag device, or a combination of these. A tension gate is a device which when used in a relax zone has an outlet yarn tension greater than the inlet yarn tension thus creating a tension differential. The tension gate provides a tension differential of at least 5 mg per denier. A relax zone is typical found in a spin-drawing process, a draw-twisting process, a draw-winding process, or a draw-bulking process. The invention describes a yarn making process with a tension gate in the relax zone wherein the tension gate creates a tension differential on said yarn of at least 5 milligrams per denier.

Abstract: Passing an alcoholic beverage through a solid substance that has pores whose diameter allows only ethyl alcohol to pass through and fixes said alcohol by adsorption, said solid substance being either a Y-type zeolite or a monolithic-type microporous substance. In the beverage from which alcohol is partially or totally removed, the process makes it possible to retain in their entirety the molecules that are responsible in particular for the color, the aroma, and the taste of wine, and in particular cliousclatine and/or trypotophan.

The device (7) contains a blocking member (8) and a lever (9) with a holding device (10) standing under spring action, the lever being pivotally mounted on the blocking member and contacting the second member (6) in such a way that the lever fixes the optical apparatus in a first position, frees the optical apparatus for displacement in a second position and releases the optical apparatus for removal in a third position.
Abstract: A process for automatically measuring the unit of time (ETU=Elementary Time Unit) for communication peripherals dedicated to smart cards during a dialogue between a reader and the smart card, so as to configure the reading device. This process consists in taking account of the descending front of the start bit, taking account of the ascending front of the start bit, and measuring the time between the descending and ascending fronts, which permits the automatic calibration of the communication processor.

Abstract: A substituted diaryl compound or a mixture of substituted diaryl compounds, such as dimethylbiaryl compounds are isomerized by treatment with a strong acid or mixtures of strong acids in the absence of any additional catalyst. The strong acid or mixture of acids has a Hammett acidity of less than about −12.6. The isomerization reaction conditions such as reaction temperature, amount of acid, and amount of solvent can be adjusted to selectively produce desired isomers in high yields. One or more desired isomers may be produced in high yields by isomerization of substituted diaryl compounds and selectively removing one or more desired isomers from the resulting equilibrium mixture of isomers. The isomer mixture may be re-isomerized subsequent to selective removal of the desired isomer to produce additional amounts of desired isomer.

Abstract: A switching element of foil construction is presented, with a triggering layer of first resistive material applied to a first carrier-foil and a sensor layer of a second resistive material applied to a second carrier-foil. The two carrier-foils are arranged a certain distance from each other by means of spacers, in such a way that the triggering layer and the sensor layer are opposite each other and, when the switching element is not operated, are not in contact with each other, whereas, when the switching element is triggered, the triggering layer and the sensor layer are initially in contact with each other at a first point of their surface, and the area of contact increases as the pressure on the switching element is increased.

Abstract: A caddy having a plurality of shirred food casing sticks arranged in a unique configuration therein that aids in achieving optimal utilization of available space for a plurality of caddies nested within a carton. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a caddy for packaging and transporting fifty sticks arranged in a semi-rectangular stick configuration having eight (8) generally adjacent and densely packed rows and a stacking of 6-7-6-7-6-7-6-5. The caddy mechanically interlocks with a second caddy via a series of recessed notches and protruding members. The snugness of the fit between the caddy and the second caddy is improved therefore enhancing stability and decreasing the amount of wasted space between adjacent caddies that are nested together.
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a work machine having a telescopic arm coupled to the front thereof. This arm is used for seating various sorts of frontal attachments and is raised and lowered by means of a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit. Now in order to ensure that an installed frontal attachment always rests on the ground with a pre-selected force, use is made of a pilot controlled seat valve and an adjustable pressure regulating valve which ensure that a constant pressure is maintained in the cylinder chamber formed below the base of the piston in the piston-cylinder unit when a constant supply of oil is fed to this part of the cylinder chamber. In consequence, this means that the installed frontal attachment always rests on the ground with one and the same force independently of whether the ground is flat or uneven. The frontal attachment thus precisely copies the contour of the ground at all times.

Abstract: A microwave oven for baking dough which uses a partial vacuum to bring about expansion of the dough. Microwaves and infrared radiation are used simultaneously or successively for fixing the dough in the expanded position. A rotation device is used to rotate the baking dough about a vertical axis and along the length of this axis so as to homogenize the dough. An automatic system for handling the dough is provided so as to allow for the insertion of hot plates into the oven and for the removal therefrom.
Abstract: A conveyor for testing successive plain or filter cigarettes or other rod-shaped smokers' products having non-circular (such as oval) cross-sectional outlines employs a rotary drum-shaped conveyor for sidewise transport of smokers' products toward, through and beyond a station where the products are tested by streams of a gaseous fluid entering the products at one axial end and issuing from satisfactory products at the other axial end. The end portions of the products are sealingly received in complementary sockets of elastically deformable sealing sleeves which are connected to their tubular fluid-conveying carriers in a manner to ensure that each sleeve remains in a selected position for optimum testing of the products.
