Abstract: An automatic method for adjusting the relative height between a needle cylinder and a stitch forming cam of an automatic knitting machine. A control means stores information for each different type of yarn that the machine might use. This information consists of a relative height for each of two different widths of the item being knitted. Using these two pairs of numbers, the proper relative height for any given width can be calculated using a linear equation. As a stocking is automatically knitted, and different zones of the stocking are produced, the proper relative height is calculated using the stored information, eliminating the need for manual adjustment of either the needle cylinder or the stitch forming cam.
Abstract: A circular knitting machine in which the inactivation or activation of a vertical jack below each needle is determined by a flexible fork located radially of the cylinder within a ring structure completely surrounding the machine cylinder and rigid therewith. A number of forks and radial grooves equal to the number of needles is provided, said forks being able to flex within said grooves and being selected by a magnetic force.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for correcting the variation in tension of the thread as it unwinds in a spooler, which is designed to wind thread at high speed. The device comprises two elements which act as unwinding accelerators, one fixedly located above the top of the cop. The moveable element pivots between an inoperative position spaced apart from the cop and an operative position coaxial and surrounding the cop so as to place itself concentrically to the cop and in a lower position at the moment when there is a reduced minimum quantity of wound thread on the end part of the cop being gradually unwound.
Abstract: A device and method for automatically connecting the yarn to the tube of a winding machine, comprising yarn manipulation members grouped on a single arm which rotates in two mutually orthogonal planes, the member for initiating tube rotation consisting of a belt which runs between two pulleys. The yarn is connected while keeping the already formed bobbin in a waiting position until yarn connection is completed.
Abstract: Needle selection is effected by an assembly fixed on and rotating with the cylinder and consisting of a plurality of horizontal jacks selected by controlled electromagnets, and an electronic control system. The assembly is provided with Hall sensors which receive magnetic pulses from stationary coil positioned around the rotating assembly.
Abstract: A device for selecting needles in a circular knitting machine by means of rocker levers. The rocker levers are pivoted on central horizontal fixed pivots having an end in the form of a one-piece metal structure. The metal structure comprises a sleeve which engages the horizontal pivot. The pivot engages along a gradual profile with butts of jacks. The butts of the jacks are inactivated and their opposite end engages with a mobile rocker arm of an electromagnetic actuator. The rocker arm is magnetizable by an electric current which is fed to a fixed electrical winding surrounding the arm. Depending on the direction of the current flowing through the winding, the rocker arm positions itself in one of two positions. The position is determined by fixed permanent magnets of opposite sign which are positioned on opposite sides of the mobile end of the magnetizable rocker arm.
Abstract: A method for rejoining yarn in an open-end spinning machine in which the rejoining is effected by feeding intact fibres to the rotor but preceding the rejoining by an operation in which the sliver is cleared and the carder is cleaned by the high-vacuum suction nozzle brought into correspondence with the air intake port.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for removing conical yarn bobbins, particularly in relation to withdrawing them from a conveyor belt which receives and moves said conical bobbins after they have been doffed and discharged from the units of a bobbin producing textile machine, and depositing them in an ordered arrangement on a peg trolley.
Abstract: A device for feeding a conical tube to a bobbin support arm and positioning it thereon, consisting of a rotatable extendable arm having an articulated wrist provided with three fingers which grip the picked-up tube, the axes of rotation of the arm and wrist being both parallel to the axis of the bobbin drive cylinder.
Abstract: A device for automatically doffing bobbins which are positioned between holding centers on support arms of a winding machine. The device is on a mobile carriage which patrols along the machine face and comprises an articulated chute shaped member for the guided discharge of the full bobbin from the winding machine, a presentation member to introduce new tubes, a gripper-type manipulation member which withdraws a new tube from the presentation member of the device and positions it between the holding centers on the bobbin support arm, a yarn positioning member which withdraws the yarn from the full bobbin and disposes it on the new tube, and a sliding belt which rotates the new tube to connect the yarn thereto.
Abstract: This device relates to a circular knitting machine in which the inactivation or activation of a vertical jack standing below each needle is controlled by a horizontal jack. The horizontal jack is located in a radial position relative to a cylinder within a ring structure. This ring structure surrounds and is rigid with the machine cylinder. It contains, in a number equal to the number of needles, radial grooves. The horizontal jacks slide radially in the grooves as well as horizontally. They are selected by electromagnetic retention devices with which each jack is provided and which are mounted on the ring structure. When the devices are energized, they retain the horizontal jacks in their outer position to activate the corresponding needles. When they are not energized, the electromagnetic devices allow the horizontal jacks to return to their inner position by a thrust spring, to leave the corresponding needles in a rest postion.
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for preventing yarn loop formation and for saving the suctioning yarn on winding units. This device keeps the yarn under tension during the knotting and cone doffing steps. The device has a movable bar which is positioned adjacent to the upper end of a pirn during the unwinding process and which is shifted by an actuator to contact the pirn before the yarn is stopped. This is accomplished by keeping the yarn under tension from the pirn cone to a yarn-tensioning disc at the beginning ot the knotting and doffing cycles to prevent loops from forming. Additionally, this device limits the yarn consumption of the knotting cycle. By frictionally clamping the free end of the yarn with an anti-loop device, yarn is suctioned by a free yarn end feed nozzle in a shortened length thus limiting the amount of yarn removed and lost during a knotting cycle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for piloting the distribution of thread on a package under formation, in a collection unit for collecting synthetic threads, to prevent ribboning from forming during the continuous overlapping of different winding layers. The present invention further relates to an apparatus to implement the above process. The process comprises setting, instant by instant, values of operational parameters during the thread winding in such a way that the collection unit operates along descending portions of lines. Each line is defined by a constant and non-integer "winding ratio" "K". The line portions are contained inside a range bounded by a maximum threshold value and a minimum threshold value of the winding angle. The maximum and minimum threshold values are symmetrical to the optimum value. The process further relates to piloting a traverse cam to fix any dislocation of the descending line portions at a distance higher than, or at least equal to, a prefixed reference value.
Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved method for producing quality hosiery in circular knitting machines by changing the stitch length. The density of the knitted hose is regulated by measuring the axial advancement of a tensioning device. This produces hose portion by portion and consequently varies the level difference between the sinker knock-down plane and the minimum level reached by the active needles.
Abstract: A high-productivity bobbin winding method comprising a variable-duration intervention cycle for restoring yarn continuity. The cycle is divided into two parts, of which a first part is devoted to braking the bobbin and a second part is devoted to joining the yarn, between the commencement of the two parts there being interposed a delay which varies as a function of the time measured for the bobbin to come to rest during the preceding intervention cycle.

Abstract: A method for rejoining yarn in an open-end spinning machine in which the rejoining is effected by feeding intact fibres to the rotor but preceding the rejoining by an operation in which the sliver is cleared and the carder is cleaned by the pneumatic action of a blowing nozzle brought into correspondence with the air intake port.
Abstract: This invention is an apparatus for withdrawing yarn bobbins, from withdrawal preparation tracks which carry the bobbins and for transferring the withdrawn bobbins into a wheel-mounted container. When the bobbins are transferred to the container they lie in a predetermined ordered arrangement which is related to the bobbin shape and size. The apparatus comprises vertically and angularly displaceable roller tracks which are on a mobile slide or support for preparing the bobbins for handling. These are automatically centered because of a substantially V-shaped arrangement of the supporting roller tracks. The apparatus also comprises a gripping device for simultaneously withdrawing and transferring several bobbins prepared on a roller track. This device is in the form of a multi-engagement gripper which is provided with various pairs of jaws for external gripping. It is also provided with a pendant rod-shaped arm which translates along two axes.
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus positioned within an automatic change-over system for cans at the exit of a drawing frame, gill box or similar machine. The apparatus prevents the escape of fibre sliver from the full cans, those latter being fitted with a semicircular strip pivoted at two diametrically opposing points below their upper rim. The apparatus has a mechanism for positioning the semicircular strip frontally forwards in the exit direction of the cans and a manipulator provided at its end with a gripper which embraces and grips the semicircular strip to raise it and arrange it above the can for the purpose of compressing the top layer of fibre sliver towards the inside of the can. This action prevents the sliver escaping from the full cans during their transportation to storage zones or during their distribution to the production departments for subsequent processing.
