Patent number: 6584744Abstract: A securing apparatus for a glass plate in a recess, especially a glass-ceramic cooking surface, is provided with easily removable components. The apparatus comprises a sealing frame; a holding frame connected to the sealing frame; a circumferential, permanently elastic sealing strip; and bonding. The sealing frame has an edge and is adapted to be positioned in the recess, lying on its edge. The holding frame is connected to the sealing frame and has an arm which supports the plate. The plate lies loosely without a secure connection to the holding frame with the permanently elastic sealing strip positioned therebetween. The sealing frame is connected non-positively, securely, and durably to the front surfaces or edge of the plate, and the sealing strip permanently prevents adhesive from leaking between the holding frame and the plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1995Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventors: Bernd Schultheis, Stefan Hubert

Patent number: 6331174Abstract: Prefilled, disposable syringes for injecting preparations with a fill volume of less than 5 ml are typically made of glass. The disposable syringe in this invention avoids the use of glass as a construction material. The body of the syringe with barrel, grip and nozzle is made of transparent, glass-like plastic with a very low gas permeability and is designed to be resistant to gamma rays and/or ethylene oxide gas, whereby the hypodermic needle is directly integrated within the plastic nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1995Date of Patent: December 18, 2001Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventors: Michael Reinhard, Michael Spallek

Patent number: 6280418Abstract: The invention concerns a container for injection, infusion, and diagnostic preparations, serving, on the one hand, as a long-term storage container, and, on the other, as a device for directly dispensing the preparations. The container has a glass barrel with a glass headpiece with a connector cone that acts as a nozzle. This is molded onto a glass barrel, thereby forming a single unit. A separate plastic, threaded section of an interlocking, conical joint is mounted onto the connector cone, accommodating a secured sealing cap that can be removed from the connector cone. The other opening of the glass barrel is sealed by a plunger that has a connection spot for a plunger rod. Furthermore, the container has a plastic grip mounted onto the inner wall of the glass barrel. Since the container, including the external profile, is, on the whole, designed to resemble a standard syringe, it ensures that the invented container can be accommodated by all current syringe pumps.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1997Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventors: Michael Reinhard, Michael Spallek

Patent number: 6085643Abstract: Disclosed is a mounting arrangement for a cooking plate having a perimeter edge. The arrangement includes the plate and a frame around the plate, the frame having a support portion extending over the perimeter edge and a rib extending away from the support portion. In the improvement, the perimeter edge and the rib define a space between them and the space is filled with reaction foam. A related method for mounting a cooking plate and a mounting support to one another includes the steps of constructing a mounting support having a support portion and a rib and providing a cooking plate having a perimeter edge. The cooking plate and the mounting support are placed against one another so that the cooking plate and the rib have a space between them. The space is filled with reaction foam, preferably by injecting such foam through a nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1998Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventor: Horst Stedron

Patent number: 6067980Abstract: Gas cooking appliances having glass or glass-ceramic plates for cooking surfaces also having gas-radiation burners that are positioned below the plate or atmospheric burners that are recessed in the plate. With gas radiation burners, care must be taken to ensure a thermally advantageous discharge of exhaust gases that are produced and with atmospheric burners, care must be taken to ensure an adequate supply of primary air. Accordingly, the glass or glass-ceramic plate forming the cooking surface is partially bent out of the cooking surface plane to form an adhesive-free exhaust air duct or fresh air opening in the bent area. The exhaust air duct and fresh air opening are free of ventilation lattices.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1998Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventors: Michael Kahlke, Bernd Schultheis, Martin Taplan, Stefan Hubert

Patent number: 6025013Abstract: A PCVD process for producing coating layers of uniform thickness of domed substrates. The substrate surface to be coated is arranged in relation to the gas passage surface of a gas showerhead. In order to determine the appropriate processing parameters, in a first series of tests for one type of substrate to be coated, the size of the gas passage surfaces and the gas mass flows through the gas passage surfaces are kept constant, while the intervals between plasma impulses are gradually modified, from an initial value t.sub.A until an optimum value t.sub.eff is determined, and until the uniformity of the thickness profile of the layers generated on the substrate may no longer be improved. If required, during a second series of tests, the value t.sub.eff may be kept constant, while the thickness profile of the layers is further modified by further optimizing the local parameters and/or the gas mass flows until layer uniformity may no longer be improved.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1997Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Schott GlaswerkeInventors: Martin Heming, Ulrich Lange, Roland Langfeld, Wolfgang Mohl, Jurgen Otto, Volker Paquet, Johannes Segner, Martin Walther
