    Abstract: The method of electrochemical determination of oxygen partial pressure in ionic melts includes providing a metal/metal oxide reference electrode consisting of an electrode body made of a metal selected from the group consisting of Mo, W, Hf, Nb and Ta and alloys thereof and a layer of an oxide of that metal on the electrode body; immersing a pure platinum electrode and the metal/metal oxide reference electrode in a glass melt; measuring a potential across the metal/metal oxide reference electrode and the pure platinum electrode immersed in the glass melt to obtain a measured potential characteristic of the oxygen partial pressure in the glass melt; obtaining a calibration curve relating the potential across said reference electrode and the pure platinum electrode to the oxygen partial pressure in the glass melt as a function of temperature; and obtaining the oxygen partial pressure in the glass melt from the measured potential and the calibration curve.

    Abstract: Fireproofing gels based on amine salts of acid phosphates are characterised in that they comprise an aluminium component, a phosphorus component, an amine component and if appropriate water in proportions such that, at 5 to 30.degree. C. for more than 24 hours, they form a mixture which is capable of flow, and on heating to temperatures above 45.degree. C. they change into a transparent gel in less than 24 hours. In addition to other uses, such fireproofing gels are particularly suitable for the production of laminated glass constructions having a-fire protection action.

    Abstract: The gas cooking assembly of the invention includes at least one gas-fired burner which has a burner chamber and a burner plate, especially a burner plate made of fiber material, the gas-fired burner being arranged below a continuous cooking plate made of a material conductive to heat radiation such as a glass ceramic, glass, ceramic or the like material. Control units are provided for metering gas as well as conventional ignition units, safety units and temperature-monitoring units. Exhaust-gas channels conduct away combustion gases. A blower brings additional air to the burner plate. The blower and control unit are located in a partitioned-off space wherein an overpressure is maintained by the blower. The partitioned-off space is connected via pipes to the burner chamber and to the ambient. The pipes are gas tight at their peripheral surfaces in the region outside of said partitioned-off space.

    Abstract: A process and a device for coating the inner surface of a greatly arched, essentially dome-shaped substrate by CVD are described. In the process, the reaction gases, which contain the layer-former molecules, are conveyed into the reaction chamber containing the substrate(s) to be coated, through at least one gas inlet, placed facing the vertex of the dome at a distance from the surface to be coated. Deposition of the layer material on the substrate is brought about in a way known in the art by producing a reaction zone on the inner surface of the substrate to be coated. According to the invention, the reaction gases do not, as is usual for known processes, flow slowly into the reaction chamber. Instead, for production of a uniform coating, the reaction gases are introduced into the reaction chamber at a high speed such that the product of Reynolds number, R, of the gas jet in or in the immediate vicinity of the gas inlet and the distance, h, between the gas inlet and the dome vertex is:400<R.times.

    Abstract: A process and apparatus are described for the production of a filter in the form of a ceramic honeycomb body monolith, starting with a blank of the honeycomb body monolith with the bilaterally open ducts. An image-recording and processing system scans the end faces of the monolith and determines the deviations of the actual geometry of the ducts to be alternatingly sealed from the geometry of an idealized honeycomb body. The image-processing system determines zones on the respective end face of the monolith which correspond, within predeterminable tolerances, to the geometry of the idealized honeycomb body, wherein zones are determined having a maximally high number of ducts. In correspondence with the determination of the aforementioned zones, a processing route is established which predetermines which one of several metering heads with a varying number of nozzles will be activated. The nozzles then inject a plugging compound into the thus-determined ducts.

    Abstract: A process for coating the inner surface of a greatly arched, essentially dome-shaped substrate by CVD is described wherein reaction gases, which contain layer-former molecules, are conveyed into a reaction chamber containing the substrate(s) to be coated. The reaction gases are conveyed through at least one gas inlet, placed facing the vertex of the dome at a distance from the surface to be coated. Deposition of the layer material on the substrate is brought about by producing a reaction zone on the inner surface of the substrate to be coated. The reaction gases do not, as is usual for known processes, flow slowly into the reaction chamber. Instead, for production of a uniform coating, the reaction gases are introduced at a high speed such that the product of Reynolds number, R, of the gas jet in or in the immediate vicinity of the gas inlet and the distance, h, between the gas inlet and the dome vertex is 400<R.times.h[mm]<4000.
