The first and second jaw are elongated and hinged together so as to be able to shift between an open position and a closed position in which opposing working surfaces define a hair treatment region. An electric heating element is attached to at least one of the working surfaces. The first jaw includes at least one friction bar which is able to move along an adjacent working surface and which is adapted to engage with an opposing element of the second jaw to create, when the jaws are closed, a traction region which generates a traction force which exceeds the traction force generated by the treatment region as the device is moved over a lock of hair.

Abstract: Provided is a hairdressing appliance, which comprises a portable treatment unit provided with gripping means and a heat and steam treatment system configured for heating hair and for applying steam to this hair, a base remote from the portable treatment unit, and connection means between the base and the portable treatment unit configured for supplying the portable treatment unit at least with electricity from the base. The hairdressing appliance comprises a circuit board for controlling the treatment system arranged in the base and a system of communication between the control circuit board and the treatment system. The hairdressing appliance enables, for example, the straightening, curling, or crimping of hair and chiefly aims to reduce the weight and the bulk of the portable treatment unit so as to make it easier to handle during styling.

Abstract: Method for cleaning a steam nozzle (7) of a beverage preparation machine comprising a rinsing container (12) having a top opening (22) and a draining device (23) for evacuating the liquid contained therein; a feed device for feeding the nozzle with liquid; a device (13) for moving the nozzle vertically so that its free end (7a) enters the container (12); and a control unit for controlling the moving and feeding devices. It includes a rinsing sequence with the following steps: the lowering of the nozzle (7) into the rinsing position inside the container; the filling of the container (12) with liquid by the nozzle; and the draining of the container (12) activated by the control unit connected to the moving and feeding devices.

Abstract: A device for raising and lowering a basket out of and into the tank of a cooking appliance. The device has a support adapted to rest on the cooking appliance and to be coupled to the basket for moving the basket with respect to the support between a raised position and a lowered position, and a handle mounted for movement between a first position to place the basket in the raised position, and a second position to place the basket in the lowered position. The support includes a hub mounted to have a certain degree of rotational freedom, together with the basket, with respect to the appliance about an axis extending in the direction of the basket, and the handle is connected to the hub for movement between the first position and the second position.

The removable grip device (1) comprises an electromechanical device fed by the energy source (6) and suitable for actuating a mechanical device, and control means for controlling the operation and the shut-off of the electromechanical device.

Abstract: Provided is a tool for cutting food into pieces, comprising at least one cutting element adjacent to a bearing surface, the cutting element comprising at least one vertical member forming a longitudinal cutting member provided for slicing the food to be cut longways, and a transverse wall having, on either side of said vertical member, two transverse cutting members provided for separating the food pieces that were sliced longways, so as to provide two channels for cut food. The vertical member has a front notch. A retaining member, which is rigidly connected to the bearing surface, can be inserted into the front notch. Also provided is an accessory for preparing food and to an appliance for preparing food comprising the above-described tool for cutting food into pieces.

Abstract: A heating appliance including a metal substrate, at least a part of which is covered with a self-cleaning coating including at least one oxidation catalyst selected from the platinoid oxides, and at least one dopant of said oxidation catalyst selected from the rare-earth oxides. Abstract: Provided is a brewing device for an espresso maker having a brewing chamber for receiving grounds, a pressing ram mounted movably on a path of travel extending between a top position and a bottom compaction position in which it penetrates into said brewing chamber to form a cake of compacted grounds, a hydraulic drive mechanism for the pressing ram having a hydraulic pump and means for measuring the volume of hydraulic fluid injected into the drive mechanism. The brewing device has a control circuit that determines the height of the cake of compacted grounds from signals delivered by the volume measurement means during the travel of the pressing ram.

Abstract: Provided is a heating article comprising a substrate having two opposite surfaces, a heat-stable coating comprising at least one base layer comprising at least one heat-stable binder, said base layer being arranged on one of the surfaces of the substrate, and one microstructured surface layer comprising a heat-stable binder of the same chemical nature as that of the base layer. The microstructured layer partly or fully covers the base layer and is sintered integrally to it. The microstructured surface layer has a relief with patterns comprised of local variations in its surface level, said relief having a regularity in average pitch Ar with a variation SAr which is not more than 10% higher or lower than the value of said average pitch Ar. A method of manufacturing such an article is also provided.

The article comprises a vitreous coating in the form of at least a continuous layer of a sol-gel material comprising a matrix formed from at least a metal polyalkoxylate and at least a reactive or unreactive silicone oil, the layer of sol-gel material being deposited directly on one at least of the sides of said support, and the side provided with a vitreous coating has a surface roughness Ra ranging between 3 and 15 ?m with a peak count per centimeter RPc ranging between 50 and 200. A method for manufacturing such an article is also provided.
