    Abstract: Provided is a sealing gasket for a utensil for cooking food under pressure, the utensil includes a vessel on which a lid is designed to be mounted; a sealing gasket interposed between the vessel and the lid for sealing the utensil in operation; and centering means designed to center the gasket relative to the vessel and to the lid. The sealing gasket includes a peripheral band and a peripheral under-band extending under the peripheral band and extending it, and centering means provided in or disposed in the gasket in such a manner that said centering means can come to be interposed between the lid and the vessel while the lid is being put into place on the vessel so as to form a centering abutment. The centering means being formed by a plurality of local extra-thickness zones, situated on the inside face of said peripheral under-band and designed to come into contact with the vessel. The utensil is a pressure cooker.
