Abstract: An egg grasp device is provided. Such a device includes a body and a plurality of elongated members extending from the body. The elongated members are interlaced to form a sheath capable of retaining an egg. The sheath has a distal end and a proximal end at which the elongated members are operably engaged with the body. The elongated members cooperate to define an opening at the distal end through which an egg is received when the elongated members engage and deflect about an egg such that the egg is seated within the sheath. Associated systems and methods are also provided.
Abstract: Some aspects of what is described here relate to analyzing a well cement slurry. In some aspects, a well cement slurry is mixed in a mixer under a plurality of conditions. The plurality of conditions correspond to a plurality of distinct Reynolds number values for the well cement slurry in the mixer. Power number values associated with mixing the well cement slurry in the mixer under the plurality of conditions are identified. Each power number value is based on an amount of energy used to mix the well cement slurry under a respective one of the plurality of conditions. Values for parameters of a functional relationship between power number and Reynolds number are identified based on the power number values and the Reynolds number values for the plurality of conditions.

Abstract: A transaction card includes a near-field communication (NFC) component, a security component, a wireless component, one or more memories, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. The device receives a signal from a user device attempting to access a secure application, and energizes the NFC component based on the signal received from the user device. The device causes the security component to generate an encrypted code based on the NFC component being energized, and provides, via the security component, the encrypted code to the wireless component. The device provides, via the wireless component, the encrypted code to the user device to permit the user device to utilize the encrypted code as authentication for accessing the secure application.

Abstract: A device receives, from a short-range wireless communication device associated with a safe deposit box, first data identifying a first transaction card, and identifies a bank employee associated with the first data. The device determines whether the bank employee is authorized to access the safe deposit box, and starts a timer when the bank employee is authorized to access the safe deposit box. The device receives, from the short-range wireless communication device, second data identifying a second transaction card, and determines whether the second data is received prior to an expiration of the timer. The device identifies a customer associated with the second data when the second data is received prior to the expiration of the timer, and determines whether the customer is authorized to access the safe deposit box. The device causes the safe deposit box to be unlocked when the customer is authorized.

Abstract: A valve includes a chamber within a housing. A sliding member is located within the chamber and configured to move within the chamber. The sliding member includes a lower portion and an upper portion wherein the upper portion includes a passage. A spring device couples the sliding member to one end of the chamber. An inner passage of the housing is coupled between the chamber and an inner passage outlet of the housing. A control fluid inner passage is coupled between the chamber and a control fluid port of the housing. The inner passage is coupled to a gap area adjacent to a top surface of the sliding member. In a closed position, the lower portion of the sliding member is between an outer housing hole and the inner passage. In an open position, the passage couples the outer housing hole to the inner passage.
Abstract: A method of designing a drill bit is disclosed. The method includes determining a location of a bit coordinate system in a wellbore coordinate system and generating a bit profile based on an angular coordinate around a wellbore axis of a wellbore and the location of the bit coordinate system. The bit profile is based on a cutting edge of a first cutting element on an exterior portion of a first blade. The method also includes determining a cutting layer volume based on the bit profile and identifying a weak zone based on the cutting layer volume being less than a predefined minimum cutting layer volume. The method includes determining a location for a second cutting element on the exterior portion of a second blade based on the weak zone.

Abstract: A formation monitoring well system accurately measures formation electrical properties behind the casing to determine water-oil contact positions and/or to assess the integrity of the cement seal over the life of the well. The well system includes a casing string having one or more formation monitoring modules embedded therein, each having a toroid sensor. During operation, current is provided to the casing string, and the toroid measures the current flowing into the formation. Also, the voltage drop between the sensor and an electrode positioned between the cement layer and formation may be measured. This data may then be processed to determine the resistivities of the formation and/or cement layer, whereby the cement seal quality, water-oil contact surface position, etc. may be extracted from the results.
