Abstract: A method of gait data collection, the method comprising collecting movement data, determining from the data a movement parameter that includes a third order derivative of position, comparing the movement parameter with a threshold value, and counting at least a near fall if the movement parameter exceeds the threshold value.

Abstract: A system and method of displaying of multiple simultaneous views of a same region of a biological tissue sample. Logical instructions are executed by a processor to perform operations such as receiving a plurality of images of the biological tissue sample, converting the plurality of images to a common reference frame based on the individual metadata of each image, and arranging the plurality of images into a display pattern for simultaneous viewing of different aspects of the imaged biological tissue sample on a display screen. The plurality of images is produced by preprocessing images of the biological tissue sample. Each image shows a view mode of a same region of the biological tissue sample, and each image contains metadata that describe spatial orientation, such as the translation, rotation, and magnification, of the image to bring the plurality of images to a common view.

Abstract: Systems and methods directing requests to a particular node in a multi-tiered middleware environment are provided. In one embodiment, traffic requests can be dynamically routed to a desired server, and not be load balanced, based on an identification of the client generating the traffic requests.

Abstract: Described is a system (and method) that provides a framework for performing data transformations, which may be part of an Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process. The system may perform a data transformation by creating a pipeline that executes a set of independent software components (or component, plugins, add-ons, etc.). The components may be executed as individual services (e.g., microservices) that may be provided within containers to allow the components to be deployed as self-contained units on various types of host systems including cloud-based infrastructures. In addition, to provide further flexibility for the framework, the components may be implemented using preexisting software libraries.

The system: (a) provides a keyboard comprising a letters in a m×n format, ‘m’ represents rows, and n represents columns, each row or column includes a sub-set of the letters, (b) provides input receiving identifiers, each input receiving identifier specific to at least one row or column, (c) processes an input on at least one input receiving identifier from the set of input receiving identifiers, (d) identifies a first intended letter from a first sub-set of letters from a corresponding row or column based on the input, (e) repeats steps (c) and (d) until a last intended letter from a last sub-set of letters is identified to obtain intended identified letters, (f) performs a comparison between the intended identified letters with a pre-registered set of letters stored in a memory, and (g) triggers at least one action based on the comparison.

A cross-section of the flex board perpendicular to the longitudinal axis has a flex-board curve shape that has a first section on a first side of a line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a second section on a second side of the line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The first section has a first section shape and the second section has a second section shape. A first conductive stripe is coupled to the flex board, extends along the longitudinal axis, and follows the contour of the first section of the flex board. A second conductive stripe is coupled to the flex board, extends along the longitudinal axis, and follows the contour of the second section of the flex board.

Abstract: Systems and methods for using machine-learning techniques for labeling incoming calls with categories relating to a risk level. A model is generated using call log data. The call log data is augmented using information from additional data sources to generate features for the model. The model may then be used to categorize additional incoming calls. The model may be used in real-time to categorize incoming calls, or categorization results may be stored for a plurality of calling numbers. Various embodiments provide various technical advantages by virtue of how the components of the system are deployed between an endpoint communication device, a telephony provider system, and possibly other systems.

Abstract: A media balancer obtains a master schedule to be used as a basis for generating target schedules, user input specifying one or more target stations for which the one or more target schedules are to be generated, and a duration delta indicating a maximum difference between runtimes of the replacement media items and the one or more scheduled media items. The media balancer selects a media scheduler to identify replacement media items to be substituted for one or more scheduled media items identified in the master schedule and transmits information associated with the duration delta to the media scheduler. The media balancer receives a list of identified replacement media items selected by the media scheduler, and generates the target schedules by replacing scheduled media items with particular replacement media items taken from the list of identified replacement media items.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to programming a payment device that can be in the same form factor as a typical credit or debit card and which can be programmed and reprogrammed with various payment profiles. The payment device is interfaced with a mobile device, such as through insertion into a module capable of holding the payment device within proximity to a main housing of the mobile device. The payment device can include both a magnetic stripe and an IC chip which is capable of near field communication. In embodiments of the invention, the mobile device, such as a cellular phone, includes a memory element. The memory element securely stores payment profiles of financial accounts which are commonly found on credit, debit, gift, transit and loyalty cards. When a payment profile stored in the memory element of the mobile phone is selected, the mobile phone writes the profile onto the payment device.

Abstract: An example method for removal of stick-slip vibrations may comprise receiving a command directed to a controllable element of a drilling assembly. A smooth trajectory profile may be generated based, at least in part, on the command. A frictional torque value for a drill bit of the drilling assembly may be determined. The example method may further include generating a control signal based, at least in part, on the trajectory profile, the frictional torque value, and a model of the drilling assembly, and transmitting the control signal to the controllable element.

Abstract: Small changes in a broadcast version of a base media item can be identified by performing a multi-level comparison of digital fingerprints. A fingerprint of a base media item is compared to a fingerprint of a media broadcast to determine whether a media item embedded in a broadcast is likely, to a first level of certainty, to be the base media item. A second, more stringent, match between the fingerprint of the base media item and loosely matched items can be used to identify potentially-altered versions of the base media item. Potentially-altered versions can be compared against each other, and resulting matches are flagged as altered base media items, which can be fingerprinted and tested against broadcast fingerprints in the same manner as the base media item. Comparisons are made in parallel between two fingerprints to distinguish between a known base media item and unknown altered versions of the known base media item without prior storage of the unknown altered versions of the known base media item.

Abstract: A boring apparatus for coupling to a drill rod and drilling a borehole includes a boring tool head configured to couple to the drill rod and receive drilling fluid. The boring tool head has an exterior surface with a hole and defines an internal cavity. The hole is configured to receive ground spoils such that the ground spoils are conveyed into the internal cavity, and the drilling fluid dispenses into the cavity such that the drilling fluid mixes with the ground spoils to form a drilling slurry. A housing is coupled to the boring tool head and has a chamber in fluid communication with the cavity. A pump in the chamber is configured to pump the drilling slurry out of the cavity and the chamber.

Abstract: A method for borehole measurements may comprise receiving one or more signals from a linear receiver array, computing an arctan of a Hilbert Transform, isolating a first arriving energy, selecting a reference instantaneous phase on a reference receiver, finding the reference instantaneous phase for the linear receiver array, computing a relative travel time shift, combining a reference pick time with a relative time, and determining a travel time. A system for borehole measurements comprise a conveyance, a bottom hole assembly attached to the conveyance, a linear receiver array, wherein the linear receiver array is disposed on the bottom hole assembly, and a computer system connected to the linear receiver array.

Abstract: A processor-implemented method for the ownership transfer and tracking of tangible assets using a blockchain is described. In an embodiment, the method includes generating a root node associated with a tangible asset via a processor. The root node has a first hash value that represents a storage location of the root node, data associated with a tangible asset, and a second hash value that represents a storage location of the subsidiary node. The method also includes storing a hierarchical hash-linked tree structure in a non-transitory, processor-readable memory. The hierarchical hash-linked tree structure can include multiple nodes. The multiple nodes include the root node and the subsidiary node. The subsidiary node has the second hash value, and data associated with a tangible sub-asset of the tangible asset.

In some embodiments, a system may include at least one processor; and a non-transitory medium containing instructions that cause the system to perform operations. The operations may include receiving credential information associated with the remote user, and receiving, from the server associated with the entity, first hash information. The operations may also include generating second hash information based on information associated with the user, comparing the first hash information with the second hash information, and transmitting an indication based on the comparison to the server associated with the entity.

Abstract: A power supply assembly for an e-vaping device may include a coupling interface configured to couple with a cartridge to configure the e-vaping device to generate a vapor, a light-emitting device, and a light tube structure extending from the light-emitting device and through the coupling interface. The light tube structure may channel light emitted by the light-emitting device to emit the light into a reservoir of the cartridge to cause at least one portion of the cartridge to emit at least a portion of the channeled light to an external environment.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods for predicting the likelihood that a hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) will respond to transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) using a gene signature of 14 or 15 genes. Also provided are nucleic acid probes and kits for detecting the gene signature.
