Patent number: 9394574Abstract: Methods for detecting Legionella (such as Legionella spp., Legionella pneumophila, Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1, Legionella bozemanii, Legionella dumoffii, Legionella feeleii, Legionella longbeachae, and/or Legionella micdadei) are disclosed. A sample suspected of containing one or more Legionella nucleic acids is screened for the presence or absence of that nucleic acid. Determining whether Legionella nucleic acid is present in the sample can be accomplished by contacting the sample with detectably labeled probes capable of hybridizing to a Legionella nucleic acid and detecting hybridization between the probes and nucleic acids in the sample. Detection of hybridization indicates that a Legionella nucleic acid is present in the sample. Also disclosed are probes and primers for the detection of Legionella, and kits that contain the disclosed probes and/or primers.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2013Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human ServicesInventors: Jonas M. Patent number: 9394756Abstract: Sensor assemblies are deployed in a borehole for a well, such as an oil well or other hydrocarbon recovery well. The sensor assemblies are coupled to a casing string (e.g., the exterior of the casing), and may detect RFID tags or other properties of material (e.g., fluids) in an annulus surrounding the casing string. Limited battery power for the sensor assemblies and for assemblies for communicating sensed data may be a concern, and the sensor assemblies and communication assemblies may therefore operate in different modes of varying power consumption. In certain modes, sensing operations are curtailed (or expanded) depending on particular requirements. In one case, sensor operation is expanded during active portions of a cementing operation, and curtailed prior to and thereafter. Different triggering events may cause the sensor assembly to operate in different modes at different sensing frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2013Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Mark W. Publication number: 20160201450Abstract: An acoustic ranging system utilizes gradiometric data to determine the distance between a first and second well without any knowledge or involvement of the borehole or formation characteristics. An acoustic signal is generated from a downhole or surface source, propagated along a first well, and then received by receivers positioned along the second well. Processing circuitry coupled to the receivers takes a ratio of the absolute signal to the gradient signal in a certain direction to thereby determine the relative position and distance between the two wells.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2013Publication date: July 14, 2016Applicant: Halliburton Energy Services ,Inc.Inventor: Burkay DONDERICI

Publication number: 20160203402Abstract: Client decision-making behavioral preferences for evaluating or coping with unknown outcomes (risk temperament or “RT”) and absorbing information (preference typology or “PT”) during decision-making events are identified and classified by processing client responses to questions. Behavioral preferences are classified and stored in a behavior-influenced decision-making data set (BDDS). The simulator also receives an objective decision-making data set (ODDS) of factually objective inputs. The simulator combines and triangulates the PT and RT information contained in the BDSS with the ODDS and derives a new data set of resultant output goals (OGDS). The transformed OGDS output is displayed as a triangulation of the simulator's RT, PT, and ODDS, with a balanced OGDS displayed as a bubble or spirit level. Out of balance status identifies deviation from intended outcome. OGDS decision-making tools can be recursively combined as modular blocks to create decision-making tools for other desired outcomes.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2015Publication date: July 14, 2016Applicant: RPH Financial Services, Inc.Inventor: Robert Paul Hanlon
