The device retrieves, from an OTT content delivery system, an address a playback position, and a manifest file associated with the OTT content, where the manifest file identifies chunks of content associated with the OTT content. The device retrieves, from the OTT content delivery system, one or more chunks, of the chunks of content associated with the OTT content, based on the address, the playback position, and the manifest file, where the one or more chunks are fewer than all of the chunks. The device stores the one or more chunks in the memory, receives an instruction to play the OTT content after the one or more chunks are stored, and plays the one or more chunks, based on the instruction, while simultaneously obtaining remaining chunks of the OTT content.

One exemplary optical computing device includes an electromagnetic radiation source configured to optically interact with a sample and at least two integrated computational elements. The at least two integrated computational elements are configured to produce optically interacted light and further configured to be associated with a characteristic of the sample. The optical computing device further includes a first detector arranged to receive the optically interacted light from the at least two integrated computational elements and thereby generate a first signal corresponding to the characteristic of the sample.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for controlling the flow of fluid, such as formation fluid, through an oilfield tubular positioned in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation. Fluid flow is autonomously controlled in response to change in a fluid flow characteristic, such as density or viscosity. In one embodiment, a fluid diverter is movable between an open and closed position in response to fluid density change and operable to restrict fluid flow through a valve assembly inlet. The diverter can be pivotable, rotatable or otherwise movable in response to the fluid density change. In one embodiment, the diverter is operable to control a fluid flow ratio through two valve inlets. The fluid flow ratio is used to operate a valve member to restrict fluid flow through the valve.

A user device may request one or more trustworthiness attributes of a target device before exchanging data with the target device. The user device may receive the one or more trustworthiness attributes of the target device, and determine, based on the received one or more trustworthiness attributes of the target device, a set of one or more security policies to enforce on a communication channel used for exchanging data between the user device and the target device. A communication channel between the user device and the target device can then be established according to the set of one or more security policies.

Abstract: A deterrent device is disclosed. At the deterrent device, a first wireless communications link is established with a mobile computing device. The deterrent device is not the mobile computing device and the mobile computing device is not included in the deterrent device. At the deterrent device, a user indication to initiate a deterrent is received. An image capture device component of the deterrent device is activated to capture at least one image in response to the user indication to initiate the deterrent. At least the image is transferred, via the first wireless communications link, from the deterrent device to the mobile computing device. The mobile computing device establishes a connection via a second communication link to at least an emergency contact and at least transmits the image and user information to the emergency contact via the second communication link. In response to the user indication to initiate the deterrent, a releasing of the deterrent from the deterrent device is initiated.
