  • Patent number: 8086493
Abstract: Instead of a PIN which is associated with an account and provides access to an account, a dynamically generated card identifier (dynamic CID) is used to verify that the consumer currently possesses the transaction card at the time of purchase and/or is the true card owner. At the time of purchase, a token generates a dynamic CID, which changes with each transaction. A consumer enters the dynamic CID into a pre-existing CID field in an electronic order form. The merchant then sends the dynamic CID to a card authorization system within an authorization request. The card authorization system issues a response to a merchant system via a pre-existing authorization message indicating that the transaction card and dynamic CID have been validated, thereby adjusting the fraud risk associated with the transaction.

  • Patent number: 8085910
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for call center screening that enable a network service provider to dynamically control service request traffic directed to selected service centers. An Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) service is configured to intercept calls originating from calling parties and directed to trigger numbers designated for processing predetermined service requests. Depending upon the trigger number, the AIN may play an announcement asking a calling party to designate the service requested. Following a calling party's valid response, a second announcement is played asking the calling party to select the type of service associated with the first response. Depending upon the calling party's responses and calling party's location, the AIN may route the call to selected service centers, in order to control the traffic to overloaded service centers.

  • Patent number: 8084930
Abstract: System that focuses electron beams in an electro-static area to a laminar flow of electrons with uniform distribution of current density and extraordinary demagnification includes a housing having a first interior portion and a second interior portion electrically insulated from the first interior portion. The second interior portion has an electric field-free space. An electrode system is disposed in the first interior portion and includes a cathode assembly and at least one anode assembly. The cathode assembly generates an electron beam that passes through each anode assembly and then into the electric field-free space in the second interior portion. The system parameters may be calculated and created due to the CGMR conceptual method.

  • Patent number: 8086860
Abstract: A means for avoiding hash collisions by means of message pre-processing function to increase randomness and reduce redundancy of an input message whereby hash collisions are avoided when it is applied before hashing any message and the message pre-processing function comprises 4 steps like shuffling of bits, compression T-function and LFSR which steps increase the entropy of the input message at the end of 4 rounds, the output becomes more random.

  • Patent number: 8085050
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining the horizontal resistivity, vertical resistivity, and relative dip angle of anisotropic earth formations. Some of the disclosed methods and systems measure sinusoidal variation of azimuthally sensitive resistivity logging tool measurements, determine parameters representative of the sinusoidal variation, and perform inversion based on the sinusoidal parameters. When cast in this manner, the inversion process may yield more accurate and consistent resistivity and dip angle estimates. The sinusoidal parameters preferably take the form of average and peak-to-peak measurements, but may also take other forms. Moreover, use of such sinusoidal parameters enables a condensed representation of the resistivity logging tool measurements, enabling significantly more efficient communication and storage of these measurements. The condensed representations continue to enable directional boundary detection and geosteering.

  • Patent number: 8086692
Abstract: Real-time delivery of multimedia content puts extreme demand on both computational and network resources. Many a times, the requirement is to handle multiple such delivery requirements and as a consequence, the overall delivery efficiency gets affected. Another dimension of complexity is that (a) the multimedia content to be delivered may not always be highly reliable, and (b) the network may also be not highly reliable. In such a situation, it becomes even more difficult to satisfy the quality of service requirements. When content to be delivered to multiple destinations is available at multiple sources, there is an opportunity to overcome the above mentioned complexity. The system and method for efficient delivery in a multi-source multi-destination network involves pulling of data from the multiple sources by measuring quality of service and reliability parameters, and efficiently loading the systems and the network in a cooperative manner.

  • Patent number: 8084415
Abstract: Uteroglobin has been discovered to prevent IgA mediated diseases, such as IgA nephropathy, by preventing the deposition of IgA-Fibronectin immunocomplexes in tissues such as the renal glomeruli. The invention therefore includes methods of treating such diseases by administering therapeutically effective amounts of uteroglobin (and variants or mimetics) to prevent or improve the IgA mediated condition. Transgenic uteroglobin knockout animals, and animals in which uteroglobin-protein expression is reduced by antisense technology, also provide systems for studying IgA mediated diseases, and screening for appropriate treatments.

  • Patent number: 8086509
Abstract: Commercial size of spending wallet (“SoSW”) is the total business spend of a business including cash but excluding bartered items. Commercial share of wallet (“SoW”) is the portion of the spending wallet that is captured by a particular financial company. Commercial SoW is a modeling approach that utilizes various data sources to provide outputs that describe a company's spend capacity. These outputs can be appended to data profiles of customers and prospects and can be utilized to support decisions involving prospecting, new account evaluation, and customer management across the lifecycle. Company financial statements are utilized to identify and calculate total business spend of a company that could be transacted using a commercial credit card. A spend-like regression model may then be developed to estimate annual commercial SoSW value for customers and prospects within a credit network.

  • Patent number: 8086528
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining and reporting aggregated transaction level data regarding a particular user are disclosed. Based on the requests of one or more information requesters, an aggregator server can request transaction level data for all accounts associated with a particular user from a transaction database. The transaction database returns raw transaction level data for all accounts associated with the particular user to the aggregator server. The aggregator server can then parse the raw transaction level data based on a number of transaction level data elements and information requester input. The parsed raw transaction level data can then be used to determine the number of predefined or information requester defined transaction level data aggregates. The resulting transaction level data aggregates can then be sent in a report to the one or more information requesters.

  • Patent number: 8083141
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing a transaction with a headless point-of-sale or automated teller machine (ATM) device are disclosed. A card having a display and radio frequency (RF) communications module may be authenticated with a headless point-of-sale device using a short-range RF communications link. Transaction information may be provided to the display of the card from the headless point-of-sale device. A customer may confirm the transaction at the card using a touch-sensitive input area. The headless point-of-sale device may then provide the transaction information to a transaction processor for processing and verification. Where the headless device is a headless ATM, the card may be authenticated to the ATM and transaction information may be entered and displayed on the card. A cardholder may authenticate with the ATM by entering, e.g., a PIN number and funds may be dispensed to the cardholder upon verification of the PIN.
