Abstract: A mobile handset includes a card reader; a gateway; a funds issuer computer; and an authentication computer. The handset receives a request to load a value onto the smart card. The handset generates a funds request and sends it to a funds issuer computer. The funds issuer computer debits an account. The handset generates a load request with a signature and sends it to an authentication computer. The handset receives a response. The handset validates the second signature and loads value onto the smart card. For payment, the system includes a merchant server and a payment server. The handset sends an order request to the merchant computer, and receives a purchase instruction. The handset processes the message, and then sends a draw request message to a payment server. The payment server sends a debit message to debit the smart card. The handset validates the signature and debits the smart card.

Abstract: A shell device with minimal software and/or hardware resources can download from a server configuration information and/or user data in order to allow the shell device to communicate with other computing devices (whether cell phones, personal digital assistants, laptops, and the like). Various security features can also be used herein, including a shell device password and a server network access password. In another aspect, any time code and/or data is downloaded from the server to the shell device, such code and/or data resides on the shell device during the time of a communication between the server and the shell device; thereafter, it can be deleted, thereby returning the shell device to its minimalistic resource state. When the shell device contacts the server again and attempts to establish another communication, such code and/or data can be downloaded anew, and after the communication it can be deleted again.

Abstract: There is a process for operating a utility boiler. The process has the following steps: a) continuously adding one or more slag control agents, one or more oxygen-generating agents, and a fuel oil to a furnace of the utility boiler; b) providing air to the furnace; c) burning the fuel oil to generate heat and an exhaust gas; d) periodically or continuously varying the dosage rates of the one or more slag control agents and/or the one or more oxygen-generating agents to maintain to substantially maintain one or more emissions variables in the exhaust gas within pre-determined limits. There is also a method for reducing emissions from a utility boiler and a method for reducing slag deposits within a utility boiler.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer readable storage medium for management of land parcel records for a utility. The system includes a database for storing a plurality of documents pertaining to land parcels and at least one hardware server for executing a plurality of components. The plurality of components include a component for entering and storing a plurality of information for transmission lines; a component for entering and storing a plurality of information for distribution permits; a component for entering and storing a plurality of information for at least one of fee lands, land sales, land leases, and land easements; a component for querying the database to retrieve documents based on at least one search attribute; and a component for enabling a user to perform administrative actions on a plurality of project and land parcel records stored in the database.

Abstract: Financial transactions may be monitored for reporting requirements and regulatory compliance. A system provides for receipt of remittances, recognition of payment documents, storage of transaction information, and compliance verification by matching one or more cash equivalent transactions (CETs) made by an individual to determine if the aggregate of the transactions should be reported to meet compliance regulations. Images of the documents may be reviewed by an analyst to determine an account number and/or routing number associated with imaged document. If the information associated with the document reviewed has not been previously reviewed, it may be placed on a list of documents associated with CET transactions such that the document may be determined to be a CET in subsequent encounters with the document without human intervention.

A postage indicia is provided through a postage provider with whom the user has a deposit or credit. Abstract: A separation device for removing solids from an input stream is provided, comprising a vessel, such as a production vessel or storage tank, having an inlet for receiving an input stream containing fluids, such as oil and water, and solids, such as sand and silt. The vessel also includes a fluid outlet and a drain outlet. An optional fluid recirculation and injection device is mounted inside the vessel and delivers fluid to facilitate removal of the solids through the drain outlet. The vessel also includes an agitation or flighted device mounted adjacent to the drain outlet for contacting and dislodging solids which have settled within the vessel. The agitation device includes a rotatable shaft driven by a motor, and an agitation element, such as an auger, to break up the solids and move them toward the drain outlet. A method of removing solids is also provided using the auger device.
