  • Patent number: 7265501
Abstract: A mobile light is disclosed that produces a high level of illumination without glare using the DC power of a vehicle's battery and charging system. The mobile light uses a high-intensity discharge lamp with a control circuit that initially ignites the lamp using a voltage multiplier circuit and that maintains illumination of the lamp using an FET switching circuit that applies a lower AC voltage to the lamp. The microprocessor also periodically adjusts the power delivered to the lamp to compensate for adverse conditions, such as high temperatures within the work light, or a high or low DC input voltage. The microprocessor also periodically senses the level of illumination provided by the lamp and adjusts the voltage applied to the lamp accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7263984
Abstract: A PCV valve assembly including housing having a fluid inlet and outlet. A poppet valve is disposed in the housing between the fluid inlet and outlet and is moveable in an axial direction between a plurality of positions. A heating element having a positive temperature coefficient material is supported in the housing in proximity to at least a portion of the valve for automatically heating the valve in response to a given voltage. The material produces a first heat in response to a first temperature and the given voltage. The material produces a second heat less than the first heat produced in response to the given voltage and a second temperature greater than the first temperature. That is, the positive temperature coefficient material automatically regulates the flow of current and the temperature produced without the need of a thermostat in response to the same voltage.

  • Patent number: 7265682
Abstract: Methods and systems employing combined source-channel coding for multi-carrier modulation (MCM). In some embodiments, a described method comprises: estimating channel gain to noise ratio (CGNR) as a function of frequency bin; determining MCM parameters that minimize distortion of one or more telemetry signals; generating a communications signal using the MCM parameters, and transmitting the communications signal via a communications channel. The MCM parameters may be determined by minimizing a telemetry signal distortion measure subject to CGNR and a transmit power constraint. The MCM parameters may further account for differing fidelity requirements when multiple telemetry signals are being transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20070202304
Abstract: A method for producing a colloid of metallic nanoparticles including the steps of: providing metal ions in solution; providing a stabilizing agent; and reducing said metal ions in the presence of said stabilizing agent, so that metallic nanoparticles are formed with a surrounding layer of said stabilizing agent, wherein the reduction step is carried out at a temperature of not less than 20° C. and not more than 150° C. The metallic nanoparticles are formed of a mixture of transition metal and noble metal, such as Ni—Pd. The resultant nanoparticles have a high stability in terms of size and chemical degradation and so can be stored for long periods. They are therefore particularly suited for forming patterned nanoparticle arrays on a substrate by nanocontact printing for the subsequent formation of a corresponding array of carbon nanotubes or nanofibers via plasma enhanced CVD.
