Patent number: 7263182Abstract: In operational environments where local loop generation equipment is used, communication interruptions between a central office and a customer premises device is minimized by using a dedicated communications link between the local loop generation equipment and the central office. A processing mechanism at the central office determines if, when, and under what circumstances the customer premises device will be notified in response to the activation of local loop generation equipment. This eliminates the need to place local loop generation equipment in series with a communications path that runs between the central office and the customer premises. The central office may provide the dedicated communications link in the form of a telephone line which is equipped to place outgoing local calls, but not equipped to receive incoming calls, and not equipped to place long-distance calls.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2005Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Verizon Services Corp.Inventors: Joseph Allen, Douglas R. Jones, Daniel J. O'Callaghan

Patent number: 7261046Abstract: The present invention is a system and method of reducing nitrogen oxides in coal combustion exhaust gases and preventing fire and explosion in pulverized coal systems. The present invention first cools the flue gas exiting a boiler of the pulverized coal system with an air preheater. The present invention removes any particles such as fly ash from the cooled flue gas with an electro-static precipitor or a bag house and recirculates the flue gas. The temperature of the recirculated flue gas is adjusted to a desired temperature and is injected into the pulverizer with combustion air from the air preheater, creating a safer environment for pulverizing the fuel. This mixture of pulverized fuel, air and flue gas is then burned in the boiler, resulting in a cleaner output containing significantly less nitrous oxide.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2004Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Aptech Engineering Services, Inc.Inventors: Terry W. Patent number: 7263180Abstract: A system and method for processing a plurality of call detail records (CDRs) each indicative of a call transaction on a telecommunications network. The method includes receiving the plurality of CDRs at a first controller, wherein each of the CDRs include a data structure including a plurality of fields each containing at least one character. The method then selects a first sorting field from the plurality of fields and groups the plurality of CDRs as a function of data within the first sorting field. In one embodiment, the first sorting field is used to group the CDRs according to different carriers. The method then analyzes at least one additional sorting field within each of the CDRs which were previously grouped according to the first sorting field. A report is then generated for each of the grouped CDRs as a function of data within the additional sorting field. In this way, periodic, customized reports can be generated from information contained with CDRs with user-selectable sorting or analysis fields.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2006Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignees: Ameritech Communications, Inc., Pacific Telesis Shared ServicesInventors: Richard D. Publication number: 20070194104Abstract: The balance of funds remaining for a stored-value card (“SVC”) may easily be determined without going through an actual purchase transaction with the SVC. The balance is obtained wirelessly from a server storing information pertaining to SVCs, and may be provided in a discreet manner. A card reader adds a card security code to a card number read from the SVC, and encrypts the card number and the CSC. The encrypted information is wirelessly sent to a cellular telephone. The cellular telephone decrypts the encrypted information and wirelessly transmits a balance-information request, which includes the card number and the CSC, to the server. The server receives the request and wirelessly sends the requested balance information to the cellular telephone and, in turn, the cellular telephone wirelessly sends the requested balance information to the card reader, which provides the information to the requester.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2006Publication date: August 23, 2007Applicant: American Express Travel Related Services Co., Inc.Inventors: Kazuyuki Fukuda, Deanna E.
