  • Patent number: 11155742
Abstract: A method for drilling a tunnel through a formation must address environmental concerns. One tunneling method comprises the steps of: preparing a mixed metal-viscosified drilling fluid including bentonite, a mixed metal viscosifier and controlling pH to 8.5 to 9.5 to permit a reaction between the bentonite and the mixed metal viscosifier; adding at least one of: (i) calcium sulfate and (ii) a potassium salt; and pumping the drilling fluid while drilling the tunnel with the pH lowered to 7-9. The amount of mixed metal viscosifier used can be limited such that the weight ratio of mixed metal viscosifier to MBT reaches up to 1:30. In the event that there is a problematic increase in viscosity, a non-toxic anionic thinner can be added to the drilling fluid. One such anionic thinner is a polyacrylate.

  • Patent number: 11156068
Abstract: A perforating gun and method according to which a perforating charge of the perforating gun is detonated. Detonating the perforating charge produces shock waves. In some embodiments, detonating the perforating charge also perforates a wellbore proximate a subterranean formation. After detonating the perforating charge, first and second components of a binary energetic of the perforating gun are fragmented by the shock waves, mixed by the shock waves, and activated by the shock waves to increase an internal energy of the perforating gun. In some embodiments, increasing the internal energy of the perforating gun after detonating the perforating charge delays and/or decreases wellbore pressure drawdown.

  • Patent number: 11157843
Abstract: Techniques are described for routing service requests in a service environment. Received requests received may be analyzed to determine characteristics of each request, including a category of the request, a difficulty of the request, and the individual who submitted the request. A list of pending requests may be presented in a user interface (UI) according to a hierarchical set of filters. A service representative (SR) may select a pending request to handle and, in response, a service session may be initiated between the SR and the individual who submitted the request. Each request may be assigned a point value according to a set of configurable rules, e.g., based on the difficulty of the request, the amount of time it has been pending in the queue of requests, and/or other characteristics. The point value of the request may be added to a score of the SR who handles the request.

  • Patent number: 11159544
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for secure data communication between two devices. A disclosed system responds to a request from an originating communication device in a first network to connect with a communication device in a second network, for communication, by receiving a request from the communication device in the first network, the request including payload data and a destination network address in the second network. The system then transmits the received payload data to the destination address in the second network after analyzing the payload data for network intrusion. When the analysis does not indicate network intrusion, the system determines a route to the destination network address by looking up the destination address in a routing table and forwarding the payload data to the destination network address in the second network. If the analysis indicates network intrusion, the system discards the payload data.

  • Patent number: 11156738
Abstract: Example embodiments are described for a method and system for logging data processing in determining permeability anisotropy effects. A permeability anisotropy model is used to derive a relationship between formation permeability anisotropy and resistivity anisotropy in both TI and BA formations. Implementations can provide the permeability anisotropy plus the true reservoir (or sand) permeability by using an integrated interpretation of the MCI resistivity anisotropy measurements with conventional permeability logs from other sensors (e.g., NMR or sonic). Biaxial and triaxial permeability components of the permeability anisotropy tensor can be determined for application to synthetic and field log interpretations.

  • Patent number: 11157906
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing transactions requested by a user, such management based on sensor data that generated by sensor device(s) in proximity to the user. Biometric and/or other types of data may be generated using sensors that are included in a user device, worn by a user, and/or otherwise in proximity to the user. The data may be analyzed to determine a current physical, emotional, and/or intellectual state of the user, such as whether the user is intoxicated, exhausted, angry, depressed, under duress, experiencing dementia, and so forth. If a transaction is detected that conflicts with a previously specified constraint, such as a budget or spending rule of the user, and if the user is currently in an impaired state, action(s) may be taken to manage the transaction. Such action(s) may include blocking the transaction, delaying the transaction, and/or notifying another party to assist the user.

  • Patent number: 11156733
Abstract: A spectrometer for downhole applications can be calibrated without using radioactive sources. A spectrum of measured gamma ray counts can be received from a spectrometer in a calibration mode. A spectrum-to-window ratio can be used to determine a relationship between voltage level applied to a photoreceptor of the spectrometer and gain factors. A voltage level associated with a gain factor of one can be identified for use by the spectrometer in a non-calibration mode. The measured gamma ray counts and reference shapes for a plurality of radioactive elements can be used in a least squares fit process to determine an offset to apply to the spectrometer in the non-calibration mode.
