Abstract: When forming an image, if there are not enough sheets remaining in a paper feed cassette to satisfy the image forming request, the image forming operation is not executed, and along with prompting the user to refill the paper, the paper feed cassette is pushed out towards an uninstalled state. The apparatus waits for a paper refill, and begins the image forming operation after that paper refill.

Abstract: On the display surface side of a DV display apparatus which performs image separation via a parallax barrier, a normally-white TN liquid crystal section is arranged such that a viewing angle direction heads toward the passenger seat. In a case where display is performed for both the driver's seat and the passenger seat, a drive voltage of the TN liquid crystal section is switched off. In a case where display for the driver's seat is set to non-display and an image is displayed only for the passenger seat, a halftone voltage is applied as the drive voltage of the TN liquid crystal section. In the case where display for at least one display direction is set to non-display in a display apparatus which can display different images in plural display directions by using a common display screen, it is possible to prevent image light for other directions from leaking to the non-display direction.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling discontinuous reception (DRX) in a mobile device in a wireless communications network that supports voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) and that uses an automatic repeat-request (ARQ) method, like a hybrid automatic repeat-request (HARQ) method, uses autonomous DRX control after initial VoIP traffic setup. If the mobile device transmits a negative-acknowledgement signal (NACK) indicating unsuccessful receipt of a VoIP packet, then it autonomously turns on a predetermined delay time later to receive the retransmission of the VoIP packet, where the predetermined delay time is related to the time for the base station to process the NACK and prepare the VoIP packet for retransmission. When the mobile device transmits or retransmits a VoIP packet, reception is deactivated, but is autonomously activated the predetermined delay time later to receive an acknowledgement signal (ACK) or NACK.

Abstract: A developing device for an image forming apparatus includes both a layer height restricting blade for controlling a thickness of the developer layer on a developer supply roller, and a spike-height restricting blade. The spike-height restricting blade is located downstream from the layer height restricting blade, and upstream from the position at which an electrostatic latent image bearing member and the developer supply roller are closest to each other. Preferably, the tip of the spike-height restricting blade is located downstream from a radial line along which a main magnetic pole of the device projects half of its maximum magnetic field strength.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus performs a processing of checking periodically whether data addressed to the image processing apparatus exist in a server apparatus while suppressing power consumption as much as possible. The NIC communicates with the server apparatus to check whether a storage unit of the server apparatus stores object data for processing addressed to the image processing apparatus. An energization switching unit switches the energization (power supply) to a main controlling unit that acquires the data addressed to the image processing apparatus from the server apparatus. The NIC controls the energization switching unit to activate the main controlling unit and the printer unit on the condition that the object data for processing addressed to the image processing apparatus is present.

Abstract: In creating an image in accordance with an operation performed on a shared image, each image is created on an object-by-object basis. In this case, selection of a public mode or a private mode for an other apparatus, i.e., a B terminal apparatus, is received for each object. Information of the selected public or private mode is transmitted to a server apparatus. The other apparatus, i.e., the B terminal apparatus, receives information of an image created by an A terminal apparatus, and displays only an image, with which the information of the public mode is associated, based on the information of the public or private mode included in the received image information.
Abstract: In a terminal apparatus used by a speaker, sounds are inputted via a microphone to perform sound recognition processing and morphological analysis, a character string obtained as a result of the analysis is extracted using a predetermined condition, and the extracted character string is transmitted to other terminal apparatuses via a conference server apparatus. On each of the other terminal apparatuses, the extracted character string, which has been received, is displayed in a selectable manner. The selected character string is displayed in a superimposed manner on an image of shared document data. The character string converted from sounds uttered by the speaker at a conference is freely placed on the shared image, thereby effectively aiding a conference participant to make a note at the conference.
