Abstract: An image display device adjusts display luminance in accordance with a surrounding illuminance. Since the display luminance considered to be appropriate differs depending on a user, the image display device includes a display unit operating according to a display luminance calculated based on the surrounding illuminance. For example, in the image display device, a user can set a range of the display luminance as a predetermined rule. The image display device provides a user interface enabling a user to easily input the predetermined rule or perform the setting input without being aware of it. That is, when the surrounding illuminance is above a predetermined illuminance, an input bar indicates only the range where the maximum value can be set as an input screen and when the surrounding illuminance is below the predetermined illuminance, the input bar indicates only the range where the minimum value can be set.

  • Publication number: 20100188621
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention is arranged such that a retardation of a liquid crystal layer which obtained while no voltage is applied falls within ± (a value which is one-tenth of a main wavelength) of a value obtained by adding natural number times the main wavelength to a total retardation of at least one optical compensation film. This allows suppression of a transmittance during no voltage application.

  • Publication number: 20100191709
Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to manage reference movies using an index file, without causing the user to be perplexed. the reference movies are generated because of, for instance, the upper limit of the file size. The index file manages sets of information regarding the files being managed. Examples of these sets of information are information for determining whether or not a file is presented to the user, information for determining whether or not a file is original, and information indicating whether or not nondestructive editing has been done. Based on such information, the erasure, displaying a list, and so on are carried out. Thus, it is possible to manage the reference movies using the index file, without causing the user to be perplexed.
