Abstract: A stored resource overlay system and method are presented. The method comprises: at a MFP, accepting a document, either in tangible form to be copied, or as an electronically formatted scan job; accessing a resource file stored in permanent storage; converting the resource file into an image; merging the image with the document; and, creating a merged document in an electronic format. The saved resource file may represent an image type such as a logo, background, signature, border, graphic, picture, or overlay for example. After accepting the document, it is converted to a rasterized data first image. Likewise, the image, converted from resource file in permanent storage, is supplied as a rasterized data second image. Then, merging the image with the document includes: adding the first image to the second image; and, generating a rasterized data third image. The resource file in permanent storage may be saved in a PDL format for example.
Abstract: In a micronanobubble reaction vessel 3 of wastewater treatment equipment, wastewater containing organic matter is treated with micronanobubbles. Thereafter, the wastewater is introduced into an aeration tank 7. Part of organic matter in the wastewater is oxidized in the micronanobubble reaction vessel 3 by micronanobubble treatment prior to treatment with activity of microorganisms enhanced in the aeration tank 7. After organic matter load is thus reduced, the treatment water is introduced into the aeration tank 7, in which microorganisms exist in high concentration due to submerged membranes 17, so that the organic matter in wastewater can be effectively treated. This makes it possible to accomplish miniaturization of the aeration tank 7, reduction in scale of the whole equipment and therefore reduction in initial cost.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus is provided that is capable of accurately outputting images of both sides of a card type document to the same side of a sheet of paper with a simple operation. On a card size input screen, a first scale for measuring a long-side size of a card type document and a second scale for measuring a short-side size of the card type document are displayed on a same screen such that they intersect at an origin. By operating a long-side size-decreasing instruction portion and a long-side size-increasing instruction portion, the long-side size of the card type document is decreased or increased and inputted. By operating a short-side size-decreasing instruction portion and a short-side size-increasing instruction portion, the short-side size of the card type document is decreased or increased and inputted.
Abstract: A display device is designed to conduct a display operation using a number n of primary colors (where n is a natural number that is equal to or greater than four). The display device includes a video signal converting section that receives an m-primary-color signal representing a number m of primary colors (where is m is also a natural number that is smaller than n) and that converts the m-primary-color signal into an n-primary-color signal representing the n primary colors. The n primary colors include a color that is complementary to a particular one of the m primary colors. The video signal converting section generates the n-primary-color signal such that if a color component representing the particular primary color of the m-primary-color signal has a negative level, the complementary primary color has an increased luminance and the other non-complementary primary colors have decreased luminances compared to a situation where the color component representing the particular primary color is zero.
Abstract: A multi-primary-color display device includes a number of pixels, each of which includes a first subset including red, green and cyan subpixels and a second subset including blue and yellow subpixels. In each pixel, the subpixels included in the first subset are arranged in series in one direction, while the subpixels included in the second subset are arranged in series in the same direction as the subpixels of the first subset.
Abstract: A method for controlling power usage on a device is described. A job is received at a device. The job is classified as an on-demand job or as a non-on-demand job. The job is placed on an on-demand job queue if the job is an on-demand job. The job is placed on a non-on-demand job queue if the job is a non-on-demand job. The on-demand job queue is processed. The non-on-demand job queue is processed only during an off-peak period.

Abstract: A toner cartridge, and a process unit and image forming apparatus using the same. Toner contained in an outer chamber is scooped with a toner scooping member by rotation of a toner container and slides down toward a communication port along an upper surface of a partition, and falls down to an inner chamber from the communication port. Then, the toner that has fallen down into the inner chamber from the communication port slides down toward a toner discharging port along the inner surface of the partition, and is discharged from the toner discharging port. Furthermore, toner discharged form the toner discharging port is discharged from a toner through hole provided in a toner container supporting member to the outside of the toner cartridge.
Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a lighting unit includes a hot-cathode fluorescent lamp including a filament electrode that emits a thermoelectron, an optical sensor for detecting an electromagnetic wave emitted by the filament electrode, and a driving circuit for controlling the driving of the hot-cathode fluorescent lamp based on a detected result of the optical sensor. Abstract: A system and method configures quality-of-service (QoS) in a segment of a network that has multiple segments with an intermediate device between the segments. The network may be a home network for the transmission of audio-video traffic streams between a media server or source, like a personal computer (PC), and a media renderer or sink, like a digital TV, with the intermediate device being a router, bridge or hub connected to its own network segment and located between the source and sink. One of the network devices contains a QoS parameter holder (QPH). After QoS has been configured in the source and sink and the traffic stream established, the intermediate device detects the traffic stream and determines that it needs to set up QoS. The intermediate device queries the QPH with a traffic stream identifier. The QPH finds the traffic descriptor that matches the traffic stream identifier and returns to the intermediate device the traffic descriptor that includes the QoS parameters.
Abstract: A display element includes a dielectric material layer 3, provided between a pair of substrates (substrates 1 and 2), which is made of a medium showing optical isotropy when no electric field is applied and showing optical anisotropy when an electric field is applied. Further, comb-shaped electrodes 4 and 5 are provided face to face on the substrate 1 so as to be positioned in a surface which faces the substrate 2. Furthermore, polarizing plates 6 and 7 are respectively provided on rear surfaces with respect to the counter surfaces of the substrates 1 and 2. Thus, it is possible to realize the display element which has a wide driving temperature range, a wide viewing angle property, and a high-speed response property.
