  • Patent number: 7620422
Abstract: A wireless transmission system for transmitting a picture data between a transmitter and a receiver by wireless communication is provided. Each of the receiver and the transmitter is equipped with a directional antenna and a non-directional antenna. A communication of the picture data is performed by using the directional antennas, and a communication of a control data indicating a reception status of the picture data is performed by using the non-directional antennas. The transmitter controls an intensity of a signal radiated from the directional antenna of the transmitter based on the control data so that the intensity becomes a minimum intensity that can transmit the picture data.

  • Patent number: 7619708
Abstract: The liquid crystal display device of this invention includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a vertical alignment type liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules having negative dielectric anisotropy disposed between the two substrates. In each of a plurality of picture-element regions, the liquid crystal layer has a plurality of liquid crystal regions different in the direction in which liquid crystal molecules tilt upon application of a voltage. At least one of the first and second substrates has a light-shield layer overlapping at least part of boundary region defined as regions separating the plurality of liquid crystal regions from each other. The part of the boundary region overlapping the light-shield layer is a region permitting liquid crystal molecules surrounding the region to tilt so that the ends of the liquid crystal molecules closer to the substrate having the light-shield layer go away from the region upon application of a voltage.

  • Patent number: 7619250
Abstract: A polycrystalline Si thin film and a single crystal Si thin film are formed on an SiO2 film deposited on an insulating substrate. A polycrystalline Si layer is grown by thermally crystallizing an amorphous Si thin film so as to form the polycrystalline Si thin film. A single crystal Si substrate, having (a) an SiO2 film thereon and (b) a hydrogen ion implantation portion therein, is bonded to an area of the polycrystalline Si thin film that has been subjected to etching removal, and is subjected to a heating process. Then, the single crystal Si substrate is divided at the hydrogen ion implantation portion in an exfoliating manner, so as to form the single crystal Si thin film. As a result, it is possible to provide a large-size semiconductor device, having the single crystal Si thin film, whose property is stable, at a low cost.

  • Patent number: 7618039
Abstract: In a sheet detecting sensor, light emitted from a linear light emitting element is blocked by a sheet from entering a light receiving element which is located immediately below the sheet. Only light receiving elements which are not immediately below the sheet, receive light from the linear light emitting element. Light passing through a point in a vicinity of an edge portion of the sheet enters only a light receiving element which is located immediately below that point, but not the other light receiving elements. In addition, even when the position of a sheet varies vertically, the same light receiving element receives light passing through the same point in a vicinity of the edge portion of the sheet. Therefore, even when the position of a sheet varies vertically, the edge position of the sheet can be accurately detected.

  • Publication number: 20090279020
Abstract: In a surface-area light source device, a light entrance side surface of a light guide plate of a surface-area light source device has a staircase shape having steps in the vertical direction, and light emission diodes are provided at each step. The structure enables the distance between a light emission diode provided at one step and light emission diodes provided at an adjacent step to be maintained greater even if the thickness of the light guide plate is reduced so as to decrease intervals of the light emission diodes in the direction of the thickness of the light guide plate. As a consequence, the amount of transmission and reception of heat produced by the light emission diodes is reduced to prevent an increase in the temperature of the diodes. This allows a reduction in the thickness of the light guide plate with the brightness of light emitted from the light guide plate maintained, enabling the surface-area light source device to be thinned.
