Abstract: A trapping determination process section calculates edge intensities in a main scanning direction and a sub scanning direction of each pixel by using differential filters for each color plane. The trapping determination process section determines, for at least two color planes, whether there is a pixel where the absolute values of the edge intensities are equal to or greater than a threshold and the edge intensities take positive and negative values, respectively. When such a pixel exists, the trapping determination process section calculates color differences between this pixel and the average values of the pixel values in an increment direction region and a decrement direction region, and determines a direction in which the color difference is smaller to be a similar color direction. The trapping determination process section determines, on the basis of the similar color direction, whether or not to perform a trapping process, and performs the trapping process.
Abstract: An application manager receives a descriptor for a MIDlet update from an MIDP server system. The application manager determines that the descriptor identifies an update to a MIDlet that is already installed on the MID. The application manager also identifies the MIDlet for which the update is intended, and determines that the update is valid with respect to the MIDlet. The application manager provides information from the descriptor to the user of the MID. If the user decides to download the update that corresponds to the descriptor, the application manager sends a request to the MIDP server system to transmit the MIDlet update to the MID. When the application manager receives the MIDlet update from the MIDP server system, an installer installs the file(s) of the MIDlet update in the existing MIDlet.

An inclining projection on the rotation shaft is inserted into the first insertion hole. The flexible sheet is nipped by the nipping section, and the inclining projection is inserted into the first insertion hole, so that the stirring blade is fixed to the rotation shaft. The inclining projection has a first inclining surface that inclines in a direction in which the flexible sheet is pulled out from the nipping section.

The red-light-emitting element (1) and the green-light-emitting element (2) each include an organic EL section (20) and a color converting layer (15). The color converting layer (15) has an optical distance that extends from (i) a position of the color converting layer from which position light is emitted to (ii) an extraction surface of the color converting layer, the optical distance being varied between the red-light-emitting element (1) and (2). The blue-light-emitting element (3) may include a film-thickness adjusting layer (19) instead of the color converting layer (15).
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus enables image display with optimum quality corresponding to the genre of an image to be displayed. The liquid crystal display apparatus controls the emission luminance of a backlight according to the APL of an image signal measured at an APL measuring portion 14. Upon emission luminance control, the display apparatus sets the follow performance of a change of the backlight emission luminance in following a change in a characteristic quantity of the image signal according to a genre so that the display image can be viewed without an odd feeling. Specifically, the APL of the image signal measured at the APL measuring portion 14 is put into a filter 15, and the rate of a change in the APL on the time axis is controlled through weighted averaging to control the follow performance of the emission luminance control on the backlight.
Abstract: A display includes an integrated imaging sensor and a plurality of pixels. The imaging sensor integrated within the display includes a plurality of individual sensors each of which provides an output. The content of the display is modified based upon the sensed content.
Abstract: In a GaN-based laser device having a GaN-based semiconductor stacked-layered structure including a light emitting layer, the semiconductor stacked-layered structure includes a ridge stripe structure causing a stripe-shaped waveguide, and has side surfaces opposite to each other to sandwich the stripe-shaped waveguide in its width direction therebetween. At least part of at least one of the side surfaces is processed to prevent the stripe-shaped waveguide from functioning as a Fabry-Perot resonator in the width direction.

Abstract: A method for detecting a foreign particle trapped between substrates of a liquid crystal display panel, by which a potential short caused by the particle can be made into a short with reliability, and thus it is possible to make a display defect manifest itself that is caused by the particle. The method is for detecting the presence of a foreign particle trapped between flexible substrates (21, 26) of a liquid crystal display panel (20), between the substrates liquid crystals filled, and the method includes making the panel pass between supporting rollers (3) arranged to support one surface of the panel, and a pressing roller (4) disposed at a position opposed to a space between the supporting units and arranged to press the other surface of the panel, bending the panel, and displacing the substrates with respect to each other in their surface directions.
Abstract: A first resist roller (72) and a second resist roller (75) are disposed in a transport path of paper on an upstream side and a downstream side in the transport direction of the paper, and the rotational speeds of the first resist roller (72) and the second resist roller (75) are controlled so that the leading edge of the paper butts against and stops at the first resist roller (72) and the second resist roller (75), after which the paper is transported by the first and second resist rollers (72, 75) and the angled travel of the paper is corrected. An angled travel detection unit (81, 82) that detects angled travel in the paper is disposed upstream from the first resist roller (72) in the transport direction of the paper.
Abstract: A method for reporting uplink control information (UCI) on a user equipment (UE) is described. It is determined a number of bits in a sequence of bits for transmission is greater than 11 and less than or equal to 21. The sequence of bits for transmission is segmented into a first segment and a second segment using a floor function. The first segment is encoded using a first Reed-Muller encoder. The second segment is encoded using a second Reed-Muller encoder.
Abstract: A display driving circuit of the present invention includes: a source driver (20) which outputs a source signal; a gate driver (30) which outputs a gate signal for turning on a switching element on a row; and a CS driver (40) which outputs a CS signal (CSOUT) whose electric potential is switched in a predetermined direction (low to high or high to low) in accordance with a polarity of the source signal. A CS driver (CSn) on an n-th row outputs a CS signal (CSOUT) to the n-th row in accordance with a gate signal (GLn) for the n-th row outputted from a gate driver (Gn) provided on the n-th row. This makes it possible to provide a display driving circuit which enables CC driving with a simple configuration.
