Abstract: A drag mechanism for a spinning reel is provided which includes drag members housed in a cavity provided at the center of the front surface of a trunk of a spool. An adjuster for adjusting a braking force of each drag member is provided with a cylindrical portion having an annular slidable surface. A sealing member mounted on the front surface of the spool is brought into contact with the slidable surface so as to seal the cavity.

Abstract: A speed-changing device for a bicycle wherein a boss of an operating lever is rotatably supported to a lever shaft, a holder supported non-rotatably to a fixing member including the lever shaft incorporates a sound-generating mechanism comprising a ridge-groove member having a ridge-groove surface and a sound-generator engageable therewith to generate a sound, thereby forming a sound-generator unit, one of the ridge-groove member and sound-generating of the unit is adapted to engage for associated motion with the boss of the operating lever, so that the operating lever is turned to generate a sound.

Abstract: A fishing rod comprising a hollow rod body and a grip coupling with the bottom rod at the rod body, the grip being provided with a short first grip portion and a long second grip portion, and with an insertion control positioned between the first and second grip portions and setting the insertion position into the rod body, so that the grip is turned over to be inserted into the rod body to be changed in length, thereby making the fishing rod adjustable of its entire length.

Abstract: A bicycle brake shoe for making press contact with a bicycle wheel rim to apply a braking force thereto. The brake shoe includes a shoe body which is elongated in the rotation direction of the wheel rim and which has a braking surface opposite to the braked surface of the rim. The shoe body also includes at least one slit extending in a direction transverse to the longitudinal dimension of the braking surface and extending inwardly into the shoe body to a predetermined depth.

Abstract: A double bearing fishing reel is provided in which an elastic member is interposed between a braking force acting member subjected to the braking action exerted by a drag mechanism and a braking force non-acting member rotatable with respect to the braking force acting member. A pointer is provided at one of the members, and a display for displaying the braking force is provided at hte other, so that the braking force is measurable.

Abstract: A speed-change lever device for a bicycle in which a boss of an operating lever is rotatably supported to a lever shaft, and in which a friction plate is supported to an eccentric portion of the lever shaft to give a resistance against rotation of the operating lever. An urging member is provided having a not-round through bore by which it is fitted onto the not-round portion of the lever shaft. A screw member is provided to engage with screw threads in the lever shaft forwardly or backwardly to adjust thereby a rotational resistance given to the lever through the urging member. The urging member includes an urging portion for urging the friction plate toward the boss of the operating lever through a forward screw-movement of the screw member during assembly.

Abstract: A derailleur for a bicycle is provided in which a support member is pivotally supported to a movable member of a linkage mechanism having a forcible movement mechanism. A chain guide is fixed to the support member at adjustable positions, so that the chain guide position can be adjusted by the forcible movement mechanism to change the moving direction of the chain guide. This enables the position of a guide pulley of the chain guide to be adjusted in position with respect to each sprocket of a multi-stage sprocket assembly.

Abstract: A top guide for a fishing rod is provided which includes a line guide ring for guiding a fishing line and a mounting portion to be mounted to the tip of the fishing rod. The line guide ring and mounting portion are connected by a connector having an elastically deformable portion which buffers an impact applied axially to the line guide ring when the fishing line is wound onto a spool of a fishing reel.

Abstract: An end cap is provided for an outer cable guiding a control wire at a bicycle. The end cap has a chamber formed between the bottom wall of a cap body and a holder for holding the outer cable to be fitted into the cap body. A sealing member is disposed in the chamber, thereby preventing mud attached to the other surface of the control wire from entering into the outer cable.

Abstract: A multistage sprocket assembly is provided which includes at least one larger diameter sprocket and at least one smaller diameter sprocket assembled in a relationship such that the center point between a pair of adjacent teeth at the larger diameter sprocket and the center point between a pair of adjacent teeth at the smaller diameter sprocket are positioned on a tangent extending along the chain path when the chain is being shifted from the smaller diameter sprocket to the larger diameter sprocket. The distance between both the center points is equal to an integer multiple of the chain pitch. A chain guide portion is provided at the inside surface of the larger diameter sprocket and at a position corresponding to a moving path of a driving chain traveling between the aforesaid center points for allowing the chain to move axially of the sprocket assembly slightly toward the larger diameter sprocket during shifting.

Abstract: A fishing line guide comprising a guide body having holding bores and line guide rings having guide bores and mounted to the holding bores, wherein the axis of each holding bore is slanted longitudinally with respect to the axis of a fishing rod, and the inner surface of each guide bore is formed in a quarter circle in section, so that each line guide ring is mounted to the holding bore in the relation that the arcuate inner surface of the guide bore orients slantwise outwardly of the holding bore.

Abstract: A fishing reel is provided which includes a drag mechanism provided between a handle shaft and a main gear of the reel. The drag mechanism presets to an optimum value a slipping rotation starting load for a spool by operating a load setting member, and also enables the angler to set, by employing a reference portion and a position setting portion, the drag mechanism at the position at which the optimum slipping rotation start load value is obtained. The load setting member is operated to adjust the preset optimum slipping rotation start load value, and after the adjustment, the load setting member is returned easily and accurately to the position at which the optimum slipping rotation start lead value is obtained.

Abstract: A pedal for a bicycle is provided which includes a shaft unit provided with a pedal shaft and a cylindrical rotary member rotatably supported to the pedal shaft and a pedal body having a foot bearing surface. The pedal body is supported to the shaft unit such that the axially inside portion of the pedal body is displaceable radially of the shaft unit at the fulcrum of the axially outside portion thereof. An elastic member is interposed between the axially inside portion of the pedal body and the shaft unit.

Abstract: A fishing reel is provided which includes a grip rotatably supported to a grip shaft fixed to a handle. A counter is disposed in a cavity in the grip and counts the number of complete revolutions of the grip relative to the grip shaft when the handle rotates. A display unit associated with the counter is positioned on the outer surface of the grip to display an indication of the amount of fishing line which is wound on a spool based on the counted number of complete revolutions of the grip relative to the grip shaft.

Abstract: A double bearing type fishing reel includes a thumb rest supported between a pair of side frames of a reel body. The thumb rest is large in width and is pivoted to the side frames to be swingable between a first position where the thumb rest is laid down along the outer peripheries of the side frames and a second position where the thumb rest is raised radially outwardly of the side frames to facilitate untangling of the fishing line. The thumb rest is adapted to be held in the first position.

Abstract: A fishing rod is provided which includes a rod body, a reel mounting device mounted at a root portion of the rod body at one radial side thereof, and a flexible grip disposed between reel mounting device and a rod-up portion of the rod. The grip includes surface formed of a harder material than the rest of the grip and having a predetermined width. The finger bearing surface is provided at a surface of the grip positioned at the one radical side of the rod body at which the reel mounting device is mounted.

Abstract: A driving gear for a bicycle is provided which comprises a gear body provided with a large number of teeth and a support member supporting the gear body. Between the gear body and the support member there is provided a driving transmission for transmitting a driving force from one of the gear body and support member to the other. A gap is provided at the driving force transmission through which the gear body and support member are rotatable relative to each other by a predetermined angle. At a location shifted from the driving force transmission there is provided an elastic member which compensates the gap and is elastically deformed when the gear body and support member rotate relative to each other so as to absorb the gap, thereby enabling the driving force to be transmitted from the driving force transmission.

Abstract: A speed changing device is provided for a fishing reel, which includes a first low speed gear engageable with a second low speed gear, a first high speed gear engageable with a second high speed gear, a shifter for selectively transmitting rotation of a handle shaft to the first low speed gear or the first high speed gear, and a wait mechanism having first and second springs which function so that, when the shifter is hindered from moving during the operation of the operating member, the movement of the shifter is temporarily delayed, and, when the hindrance is eliminated, the shifter automatically engages with the first low speed gear or the first high speed gear.
