Abstract: A system is provided including: (1) an arc fault circuit interrupter having a line side terminal and a load side terminal, wherein the line side terminal is coupled to a voltage source, and (2) a current source coupled to the load side terminal to backfeed the arc fault circuit interrupter. Numerous other aspects also are provided.
Abstract: A turbine airfoil (31) with an end portion (42) that tapers (44) toward the end (43) of the airfoil. A ridge (46) extends around the end portion. It has proximal (66) and distal (67) sides. A shroud platform (50) is bi-cast onto the end portion around the ridge without bonding. Cooling shrinks the platform into compression (62) on the end portion (42) of the airfoil. Gaps between the airfoil and platform are formed using a fugitive material (56) in the bi-casting stage. These gaps are designed in combination with the taper angle (44) to accommodate differential thermal expansion while maintaining a gas seal along the contact surfaces. The taper angle (44) may vary from lesser on the pressure side (36) to greater on the suction side (38) of the airfoil. A collar portion (52) of the platform provides sufficient contact area for connection stability.

Abstract: A railway vital or critical application system substitutes commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and/or software for railway-domain specific product components, yet is validated to conform with railway vital system failure-free standards. The vital system uses a pair of COTS personal computers and operating systems with asymmetric communications capability. Each computer and operating system may differ for additional redundancy. Both computers receive and verify vital systems input message data and security code integrity and separately generate output data responsive to the input message. The first computer has sole capability to send vital system output messages including the output data and an output security code, but only the second computer has the capability of generating the output security code. A failure of either computer's hardware, software or processing capability results failure to transmit a vital system output message or an output message that cannot be verified by other vital systems.
Abstract: A closure device including a first and second closure element, the first closure element, which has an opening, being mounted on the opening of a container to be closed and the second closure element being movably connectable to the first closure element, the first closure element of the device having on the bottom surface facing the container a raised edge, which encircles the opening and has a sharp-edged region and a blunt region.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing a software application with at least two layers, including a processing layer and a process layer, wherein each layer is encapsulated and hence platform-independent in its execution, the encapsulated layers communicating via an application programming interface. A system is also disclosed for producing an application including a flexible interconnection interface between encapsulated layers. By virtue of the implementation of an additional configurable interconnection interface in the application programming interface between two encapsulated application layers, the architecture layering can be retained regardless of the respective deployment, and only the communication profiles of the interconnection interfaces need be adapted to the deployment.

The boom element includes a package stop that moves to a first position blocking passage of packages and a second position allowing passage of packages, and a securing mechanism that holds the package stop in the first position. The package tray moves to first and second positions, respectively retracted within and extending from the boom element. The tray includes a tray package stop apparatus that prevents packages from sliding off a distal end of the tray. The distal boom element further includes a drawer unit that moves to first and second positions, respectively retracted within and extending from the tray. The drawer unit is configured to pivot down, while in its second position, to reach a floor of a container being loaded using the extendable boom loader.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for reconstructing image data of an examination object from measured data, wherein the measured data was captured previously during a relative rotary motion between a radiation source of a computed tomography system and the examination object. In at least one embodiment, the measured data is modified to achieve a particular grayscale characteristic of the image data to be reconstructed. The image data is calculated by way of an iterative algorithm using the modified measured data, wherein no arithmetic step for reducing noise is employed in the iterations.

Abstract: A method and a system propagate a scaling mode in a production process controlled and executed by a manufacturing executing system (MES). The method includes the steps of providing a production request in terms of an initial quantity of a predetermined product to be produced, identifying the predetermined product by a predetermined production rule thereby dividing the production rule in a number of segment requirements that represent production actions, and defining within the segment requirements resources required to produce the required quantity. A rescaling attribute is defined and is aligned with each of the resources in a production request tree. An interface to the MES is used to update the quantity of the predetermined product to be produced and to recalculate in response to the update, the resources required to produce the updated quantity by applying a rescaling factor calculated from the initial quantity and the updated quantity.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for high-speed fault detection of circuits in power distribution networks utilizing protective relay devices (14) segmenting a distribution line (11) having Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) (22) associated with switching devices (20) communicating peer-to-peer via a communication system (30) to provide fast and accurate fault location information in distribution systems.
Abstract: A presence trigger system and a service system support automatic actions on a voice conference based on the presence state of potential conferees of the voice conference. The systems may, for example, initiate contacting and joining the potential conferee to the voice conference when the potential conferee presence state indicates that the potential conferee is available. As another example, the systems may automatically notify participating conferees that the potential conferee has become available. Automatic notification allows participating conferees to concentrate on and contribute to the voice conference without the distraction of frequently checking the presence status of expected, but absent, conferees.

Abstract: A method of associating time slots with a transmission path in a wireless interconnected network made of a plurality of network nodes such that the transmission path extends between a source node and a destination node and comprises a plurality of sequential links between adjacent network nodes, data being transmitted in the network on a time slot basis by the association of the time slots to be used with the links of the transmission path, wherein a quality value is determinable for each link within an association sequence of time slots describing an end-to-end data transmission from the source node to the destination node along the transmission path, where the value represents the reliability of the data transfer. An overall quality value for the association sequence can further be determined as a function of the quality values of each of the links.

Abstract: The invention relates to a compressor unit, in particular, for submarine application, comprising an electric motor. The transported medium for compression, in particular, natural gas for transport, not only frequently contains various aggressive chemical compounds but is also carrier of various condensates which hinder compression and in particular lead to increased wear of the compressor. On assembly aggressive sea water can also enter the compressor unit. The invention provides a solution to the above, wherein the rotation axis is arranged vertically during operation and the housing comprises a drain at the lower axial end. The invention further relates to an assembly method for a compressor unit, in which the compressor unit is filed above water with an incompressible fluid, transported to a submarine operating position, connectors are connected to the inlet and the outlet and the fluid removed from the compressor unit through the drain.
