  • Patent number: 8712007
Abstract: In a computed tomography apparatus and operating method, a radiation source and radiation detector are rotated around a system axis, and a patient support plate and diaphragm elements of a diaphragm associated with the x-ray source are also movable in the direction of the system axis. Movement of the patient support plate and the diaphragm plates between respective end positions is coordinated during a dynamic computed tomography examination of a subject so as to reduce and homogenize the dose of x-ray radiation to which the subject is exposed during the examination.

  • Patent number: 8710840
Abstract: In a method and system for phase-sensitive magnetic resonance imaging, a respective, complex image data set provided to a processor for each of at least two different echo times, the complex image data sets for the different echo times having been reconstructed from magnetic resonance data that acquired for the different echo times using an echo imaging sequence, at least one complex division image data set is determined in the processor by complex division of the complex image data sets for the two different echo times. The two different echo times define an echo time difference, so the resulting complex division image data set has phase components that are dependent on the echo time difference.

  • Patent number: 8712119
Abstract: Described herein is a computer-aided technology for facilitating detection of folds of an object surface. In one implementation, image data is processed to determine curvature characteristics at one or more points of the surface of a region of interest. If the curvature characteristics of one of the one or more points correspond to a hyperbolic curvature, the point is identified as a seed point. A region of a predetermined thickness is grown around the seed point so as to detect the presence of any fold feature within the grown region.

Abstract: A method for operating a recirculating waste heat steam generator is provided, in which in a pressure stage of the recirculating waste heat steam generator, the feed water mass flow is guided on the basis of a specified desired value in order to control the water level in a drum. The method should give a recirculating waste heat steam generator a particularly high degree of efficiency and simultaneously a particularly high level of operational flexibility. For this purpose the thermal input introduced into an evaporator of the pressure stage is used as input variable in the determination of the desired value.

  • Patent number: 8706190
Abstract: In a method or system for magnetic resonance imaging based temperature monitoring for real-time feedback to a physician for a cryoablation therapy of a lesion which creates an ice ball of the lesion to induce cell death, the magnetic resonance imaging system, using proton resonance frequency imaging, obtains a real-time temperature image of the ice ball of the lesion undergoing the cryoablation therapy and the adjacent surrounding tissue. By use of an algorithm, correcting temperature errors at a border of the ice ball are corrected in the real-time image, the temperature error correction correcting susceptibility contrast errors caused by a distortion of the local magnetic field at the border of the ice ball.

  • Patent number: 8704825
Abstract: A method for generating a four-dimensional representation of a periodically moving target region is proposed. A motion-compensated three-dimensional image dataset is determined from two-dimensional projection images recorded from different projection directions. Estimation parameters that describe a non-periodic motion and are derived from a motion model formulated independently of the phase of the periodic motion with respect to the recording instants of the projection images are determined from the projection images, such that the three-dimensional image dataset represents a static reconstruction based on all projection images for a specific instant. The three-dimensional image dataset is animated from the estimation parameters used in its reconstruction. The motion information that is missing in the estimation parameters due to the two-dimensionality of the projection images is additionally determined using a boundary condition that describes the periodicity of the motion, and used for the animation.

  • Patent number: 8706450
Abstract: A method and engineering system by which relationships are automatically identifiable between CAD objects of different CAD models, where use of a transformation rule which maps points of the envelope geometry of a first CAD object of a first CAD model onto points in a second CAD model is used such that the points involved in the transformation rule each relate to the same modeled raw component. The transformation rule is applied to at least two CAD objects of the first CAD model. If the transformed points in the second CAD model are surrounded by a common-envelope geometry, this spatial relationship is interpreted as a grouping relationship. A hierarchical data structure is then formed automatically within the engineering system, taking account of the already recognized grouping relationship, and allowing synchronous data keeping.
