  • Patent number: 9942669
Abstract: A binaural hearing device has first and second hearing aids and a control device. Each hearing aid has a communication unit, an audio receiver and an earphone. The communication units are configured for reciprocal data transmission by inductive coupling. The audio receivers receive and process stereophonic audio data. The control device switches one of the hearing aids to an inactive audio reception state and the other to an active audio reception state, swaps the audio reception states of the hearing aids within an operating period based on a signal strength of the audio signal of one hearing aid at a time, and drives the hearing aid with the active audio reception state to transmit audio data to the hearing aid with the inactive audio reception state via the communication units.

  • Patent number: 9913051
Abstract: An input signal is provided with a low microphone noise in a hearing apparatus. The microphone noise in the input signal of the hearing apparatus is reduced, by the input signal being filtered by a Wiener filter, if a noise power determined at the input signal is smaller than a predetermined limit value. The Wiener filter is however deactivated, if the noise power is greater than the limit value or equal to the limit value.

  • Patent number: 9877118
Abstract: A method for frequency-dependent noise suppression in an input signal is particularly suited for a hearing device. The input signal is distributed to a main signal path and an ancillary signal path. The presence of a useful signal component and, if a useful signal component is present, a parameter for a frequency of the useful signal component are assessed in the ancillary signal path. Noise in the input signal is suppressed in the main signal path by at least one infinite impulse response filter whose frequency response is implemented with a maximum absolute value in the range of that frequency of the useful signal component that is assessed using the parameter by determining a complex pole of the transfer function. The complex pole of the transfer function is determined by using the assessed parameter for the frequency of the useful signal component.

  • Patent number: 9872114
Abstract: A method and an apparatus reduce feedback in a hearing aid device. The method includes the step of acquiring a first feedback transfer function at a first point in time on a feedback path from a signal processing device via an electro-acoustic transducer, an acoustic signal path from the electro-acoustic transducer to an acousto-electric transducer and via the acousto-electric transducer back to the signal processing device. In a further step, a weighted mean value function is determined in a manner dependent on amplitude absolute values of the first feedback transfer function. A second feedback transfer function is estimated by an adaptive filter, wherein coefficients of the adaptive filter are determined in a manner dependent on the weighted mean value function. The adaptive filter is applied to a signal which is derived from an acoustic input signal of the acousto-electric transducer.

  • Patent number: 9866974
Abstract: A method operates a hearing device system that contains a hearing device and a database system, which is separate from the hearing device and is set up for communication with the hearing device. The method includes ascertaining a piece of location information for a current position of the hearing device and the location information is transmitted to the database. The database then ascertains whether an electronic device that is separate from the hearing device is situated at a prescribed physical distance from the hearing device. The presence of the separate electronic device within the prescribed physical distance is taken as a basis by the database system for creating for the hearing device a parameter set that contains a number of parameters pertaining to the signal processing of audible signals in the hearing device. This parameter set is used by the hearing device for the purpose of signal processing.

  • Patent number: 9860654
Abstract: A method for synchronizing the reproduction of a digital signal sent by a transmitter to a plurality of mobile audio terminals. The transmitter sends the digital signal as a multiplicity of data packets at a data rate that is constant as an average over time. A signal receiver of each mobile audio terminal receives at least a subset of the multiplicity of data packets and generates a time reference signal. A FIFO signal with information on an occupancy level of a FIFO memory of the mobile audio terminal at specific time points is generated, an instantaneous reproduction speed is set on the basis of the time reference signal and the FIFO signal, the audio reproduction unit reproduces at the instantaneous reproduction speed samples corresponding to the digital signal. The occupancy level of the FIFO memory is thereby kept constant as an average over time.

  • Patent number: 9824675
Abstract: A method for suppressing interference noise in an acoustic system with a microphone that generates an input signal and a loudspeaker that generates an acoustic signal which partially feeds back to the microphone. A first intermediate signal is formed along a primary signal path as a function of the input signal, and an output signal is formed via a frequency distortion. The output signal is coupled into a signal feedback path. A second intermediate signal is formed in the signal feedback path via a decorrelation and used as an input value for an adaptive filter. The adaptive filter generates a compensation signal which compensates the input signal. A third intermediate signal is formed from the input signal and/or compensated input signal, which is used as an input value for the adaptive filter. The output signal is fed to the loudspeaker for reproduction.

  • Patent number: 9736599
Abstract: A high-performance method evaluates a useful signal of an audio device, and in particular of an audio apparatus, for example for reducing interference. Accordingly, in the method at least two microphone signals are each obtained from a sound signal and a reference signal is obtained from the microphone signals, a portion of the microphone signals from a predetermined direction being blocked. The microphone signals are filtered by a filter such that an evaluation signal is obtained. To that end, a coherence value is determined from portions of the reference signal and a power density value is determined from the coherence value. The filter is parameterized on the basis of the power density value.

  • Patent number: 9723414
Abstract: A method performs signal processing in a binaural hearing device that has first and second hearing aids with first and second microphones producing first and second signals and with first and second sound generators. The first and second signals ascertain a direction of a main sound source. A deviation in the direction from a frontal direction prompts the hearing aid that is closer to the main sound source to be defined as the local hearing aid and the hearing aid that is more remote from the main sound source to be a remote hearing aid. The local hearing aid, in one frequency band, filters the first signal using an angle-dependent first filter factor, and thus produces a first filtered signal. The first signal, the second signal and/or the direction of the main sound source is used for determining an adaptation coefficient, a first adapted signal and a local directional characteristic.
