  • Patent number: 7798724
Abstract: A bearing includes an inner bearing ring on which a raceway is formed. The ring includes at least a first component of light metal material and at least a second component of fully dense ceramic material, where the first component and the second component are separate entities joined together, and where the second component forms at least part of the raceway. The first component includes two lightweight metal parts interconnected by a screw thread which can be tightened to induce compressive pre-stress in the second component to compensate for low tensile strength of the ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 7793561
Abstract: A threaded nut is provided for a linear drive having a rotatable spindle. The threaded nut is provided with a main nut, wherein the main nut is intended for being arranged with its internal thread on the external thread of the spindle, and is intended to perform a translatory displacing motion during a rotary motion of the spindle. The threaded nut has, furthermore, a safety nut, which is intended not to mesh by its internal thread with the external thread of the spindle during the normal operation of the linear drive and to mesh with the thread of the spindle in case of failure of the main nut. To make possible simple mounting in case of such a threaded nut means and to reduce the risk for incorrect alignment, the main nut (11) has a first part and a second part. The two parts are located at spaced locations from one another and each part being provided with a threaded section (18a, 18b) of the main nut (11), wherein the safety nut (12) is intended to be arranged between the two threaded sections (18a, 18b).

  • Patent number: 7770896
Abstract: A sealing assembly including a sealing member made of elastomeric material and PTFE; a supporting armature; and an annular L-shaped shield cooperating, in use, with the sealing member. The armature has a sleeve portion and a radial flange portion partly supporting a radial portion of the sealing member, projecting towards the axis of symmetry and made of elastomeric material with no supporting armature. The radial portion increases in axial size towards the axis of symmetry, and supports, on its free end, a sleeve made of PTFE, the sleeve having a cylindrical first end portion projecting axially, and a conical second end portion projecting axially on the opposite side to and by a greater amount than the first end portion to form an elastically deformable axial sealing lip extending, in undeformed conditions, farther away from the axis of symmetry as it comes away from the flange portion.

  • Publication number: 20100194224
Abstract: A rotor assembly includes a rotor having a central axis extending between the two opposing ends and a radial surface, and is rotatable about the central axis. At least one electromagnet is disposed proximal to and configured to exert magnetic force on a portion of the rotor. Further, a channeling member is disposed generally adjacent to the electromagnet and has a radial surface disposed adjacent to the rotor radial surface. As such, magnetic flux generated by the electromagnet extends generally radially between the electromagnet and the rotor portion and generally axially between the rotor portion and the channeling member so that the magnetic force biases the rotor both radially and axially to maintain the rotor at a desired position. Preferably, the assembly includes a plurality of magnets proximal to each end, two channeling members, and a tubular body extending between the channeling members and enclosing the rotor.

  • Publication number: 20100197414
Abstract: A driving ring is fixed to the rotatable hub of a hub bearing unit for providing torque transmission from an outer bell of a constant velocity joint. The bell has an outer tubular projection in telescopic relation with the driving ring. A first end surface of the tubular projection faces a second surface of a rotatable ring of the hub bearing unit. The driving ring and the tubular projection have mutually engaging splines. The hub and the constant velocity joint are releasably axially secured by a rigid cap received in the cavity of the bell and axially abutting against a shoulder within the bell, and a screw connecting the cap member to the hub in an axially tractive relationship. This axial traction causes axial compression of the annular seal which is fitted between the first and second surfaces and provides continuous sealing around the engaged splines.

  • Publication number: 20100150487
Abstract: A bearing assembly comprises at least two axially-spaced bearings, each bearing including an inner ring. The at least two inner rings have differently-sized bore diameters. A sleeve-shaped connecting piece having a substantially frustum, conical or tapered shape is disposed between the two inner rings. An inner diameter of the connecting piece at its respective axial end regions corresponds to the respective bore diameter of the bordering inner ring so that first and second contact points are defined between the connecting piece and the respective inner rings. First and second curved or ring-shaped fixing elements are respectively disposed at the first and second contact points so as to fix the inner rings relative to the connecting piece in the radial direction of the bearing assembly. Each fixing element at least partially axially overlaps the connecting piece and the respective inner ring.

  • Publication number: 20100146964
Abstract: A torque transmission device includes a first shaft is coaxially borne relative to a second shaft via at least one roller bearing. An adjusting device adjusts the amount of torque transmitted from the first shaft to the second shaft by changing the internal bearing friction experienced by the at least one roller bearing. In one embodiment, the adjusting device causes one ring of the at least one roller bearing to axially displace relative to a second ring of the at least one roller bearing, thereby changing the amount of bearing friction experienced by roller bodies disposed between the first and second rings and thus the amount of torque transmitted from the first shaft to the second shaft.
