Patent number: 6138886Abstract: A device in a wire rolling mill includes a pair of grooved rolls. Each grooved roll is fixedly attached to the free end of a rotatably supported spindle. Each grooved roll is positionable relative to the other so that they between themselves define a rolling gap of adjustable size. At least one of the spindles is arranged integrally with the output shaft of an electro motor. The electro motor drives the spindle directly thereby avoiding heavy and space-requiring transmissions.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1998Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Aktiebolaget SKFInventors: Hans Kjellberg, Anders Lindskog

Patent number: 6132102Abstract: A rolling bearing, having, for example, cylindrical rollers, is provided, between an inner ring and an outer ring, with a retaining structure for retaining the rollers. The retaining structure includes an annular retainer having a number of seats for click-in insertion of the rollers, and from an end edge of which projects a radially outer flange having a sliding surface cooperating in sliding manner with a radially inner surface of the outer ring of the bearing to support the annular retainer in a radially inner position with respect to the outer ring and so prevent the annular retainer from sliding against the rollers. The seats for the rollers each have a pair of axial projections for compensating any axial clearance between the rollers and the respective seats.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1998Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Assignee: SKF Industrie S.p.A.Inventors: Mario Bessone, Giampaolo Casazza

Patent number: 6123338Abstract: A radial seal useful in linear ball bearings and designed to be secured during transportation as well as during operation of the bearing includes an arcuate disk portion having opposite sides. An arcuate projection is provided on each side of the disk portion, at least one of which is axially oriented. The projections are designed to have different diameters. This produces a stepped seating surface along the outside diameter of the radial seal that effects a reliable seating of the radial seal in the linear ball bearing. The radial seal can also be designed with two axially oriented projections disposed at different diameters on one side of the disk portion for projecting into an annular groove on the frontal face of the outer ring of the linear ball bearing. By constructing the projections with circumferential outer faces that slightly diverge in a cone-shaped manner, the projections further inhibit the seal from falling out of the groove.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1998Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: SKF Linearsysteme GmbHInventors: Ludwig Edelmann, Andreas Geyer, Hermann Glockner, Holger Kristandt, Uwe Mayer, Henryk Velde, Lothar Walter

Patent number: 6094836Abstract: An air dryer having dual, spin-on canister assemblies. The unit also includes first and second valve bodies, each containing a moist air inlet valve, a dried air outlet valve and an exhaust and drain valve assembly. A single control valve assembly allows the exhaust valves to open in response to air pressure and close in the absence of pressure. The moist air inlet valves are responsive to high external air pressure for biasing the valves open. The dried air outlet valves have a small orifice therein to allow air to bleed therethrough when the valves are closed. The canisters each include inner and outer imperforate sleeves, and passages arranged such that incoming air passes between the sleeves, through the desiccant and out the dry air outlet valve. When the control valve shifts, the air flow is reversed and the desiccant is regenerated.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1999Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: SKF USA Inc.Inventors: Thomas John Mahoney, Monte Salzman
