Patent number: 5984562Abstract: An arrangement for fixing a tubular element, such as a shaft, that is provided with a bore and a flange in position with respect to plate element involves the use of a ball that pressed into the bore in the tubular element. To achieve a simple fixation that is secure in both axial directions, the plate element is fixed on one side by the flange of the tubular element and on the other side by the bulge that is created through insertion of the ball into the bore in the tubular element. The ball has a greater diameter than that of the bore in the tubular element so that insertion of the ball into the bore causes the tubular element to become enlarged, thus forming the bulge.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1997Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: SKF GmbHInventors: Manfred Brandenstein, Wolfgang Friedrich, Roland Haas, Roland Harich, Gerhard Herrmann, Josef Stork

Patent number: 5968576Abstract: An apparatus and method for the fixing of pieces of meat under pressure during a smoking or heating process, comprising a number of perforated elements arranged as layers above one another, and where holding elements are mutually connected by links which permit mutual displacement to a maximum distance between the layers. On three sides between adjacent layers, the holding elements are provided with fixed, perforated walls, and from at least one holding element, preferably more, the walls extend from two opposing sides from the bottom of the holding element(s) down towards the underlying holding element, and from the upper side from the same holding element(s) the walls extend towards the overlying holding element. There is hereby created a chamber for the insertion of each individual piece of meat, which due to the perforations in the chamber walls not only permits an optimum smoking of the pieces of meat during the smoking process, but also ensures a well-demarcated insertion space for the meat.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1998Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: SKF-Danfotech A/SInventor: Kjeld Elimar

Patent number: 5967670Abstract: A rolling element bearing includes an outer ring and an inner ring which enclose a bearing space containing rolling elements. The rings are made of steel. At least one of the rolling elements comprises, at least partially as a zirconium material which is harder and stiffer than the material of the other rolling elements which are comprised of steel. Walls of indentations which are formed in the rings by solid contamination particles between the rings and one of the rolling elements having about the same hardness as the rings, are compressed as soon as the zirconium material rolling element with a substantially higher hardness than the rings overrolls the walls. Thereby, the smooth characteristic of the raceways is restored. Only small holes are left in the rings, which do not have a negative influence on the running properties of the bearing. In these small holes, minute quantities of lubricating oil are collected, which help the lubrication of the rolling elements in case of oil starvation.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1997Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: SKF Industrial Trading & Development Company B.V.Inventors: Antonio Gabelli, Pieter Abraham Veenhuizen, Gerardus De Vries

Patent number: 5955035Abstract: A method and apparatus for devulcanizing cured or cross-linked elastomers. The method includes subdividing elastomeric raw material into small particle form, confining the particles of elastomer under high force, as in a screw extruder or the like and, as the particles remain confined, imparting ultrasonic energy to the mass to effect devulcanization. Energy is fed to the confined particles transversely of the axis along which they are advancing, and energy from a source is reflected off a portion of the apparatus and back into the treatment zone so as to achieve maximum energy utilization. In particular instances, reflection of energy is achieved by providing opposed, powered ultrasonic horns that resonate in phase with each other. In another embodiment, oppositely directed, resonantly tuned horns are used, with less than all such horns being powered and the remainder being passive or unpowered reflecting horns who resonant frequency is tuned to that of the powered horn.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1997Date of Patent: September 21, 1999Assignee: SKF USA Inc.Inventors: Boris Dinzburg, Alexander Berdichevsky

Patent number: 5928676Abstract: A fluid seal including a casing unit and an elastomeric lip body portion. Frustoconical air and oil side surfaces of the lip body meet at an inner diameter portion to form a fluid seal band contacting an associated shaft in use. A continuous, circumferentially extending garter spring is embedded in the seal lip body. An axially inner surface of the lip body is defined in part by plural spaced apart ribs and the remainder is defined by pockets having portions lying closely adjacent the radially and axially innermost portions of the garter spring. In the free state of said seal, the garter spring exerts a radially inwardly directed preload force so as to resist radial expansion of said seal. The spring also resists dimensional shrinkage of the seal band and the remainder of the seal body.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1997Date of Patent: July 27, 1999Assignee: SKF USA Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 5914147Abstract: A pressing column for the pressing, for example, of hams in molds is provided with shelves to support the molds. The shelves are mutually connected by links which allow a certain mutual movement between the shelves in the vertical direction. By raising the upper part in the pressing column, the shelves can be pushed in from the side of the column from a platform which is adjustable in height.
