Patent number: 4551845Abstract: The instant invention relates to the phasing of digital trains containing identical data signals and clock signals of the same frequency. A data testing device compares the coincidence of the bits by packets of bits contained in the signals for emitting a signal (NoCo), if there is at least one non-coincidence in a packet. The testing device delivers a poor base relation signal (ABSCORR) after q non-coincidences. If the testing device has not delivered any non-coincidence pulse for a time t.sub.1, a phase discriminator delivers a phase non-matching signal (ABSPHA). A phase change demand signal (PAP) is delivered by the testing device either upon appearance of the signal (ABSCORR) or the signal (ABSPHA).The invention is appropriate for switching purposes in microwave link transmission.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1982Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Assignee: Societe Anonyme de TelecommunicationsInventors: Charles H. ab der Halden, Pierre H. Patent number: 4550403Abstract: A signal in HDBn code is transmitted with an auxiliary binary signal having a lower bit-rate on a digital transmission line. The HDBn code signal comprises predetermined sequences each including n+1 elements, n-1 central elements being zeros and a last element being a bipolarity violation mark. In each sequence of the HDBn code signal transmitted during each of binary elements of the auxiliary signal having a predetermined binary state, a bipolar mark in the sequence is permutated with a zero element having a predetermined rank in the sequence to derive an encoded sequence. The HDBn code signal is an information signal in the transmission line and the auxiliary signal can be a signal for remotely locating the repeater in the line from a monitoring end equipment of a monitoring system or for indicating performance factors of the repeaters, such as error rates, to the monitoring equipment.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1983Date of Patent: October 29, 1985Assignee: Societe Anonyme de TelecommunicationsInventor: Claude P. Patent number: 4548567Abstract: This invention relates to manufacturing a grooved cylindrical core by extrusion. The manufacturing device comprises a single rotating integral die that has a tapered rear portion and a grooved cylindrical front portion. The tapered portion surrounds a stationary central member and guides the material from a main extruder. The front portion has a bore including linear or helical channels. The sealing problems are obviated since the tapered portion and the grooved portion make up an integral die. This die further enables to produce a grooved core perfectly gauged. According to another aspect, the threads or stripes between core grooves are identified by means of auxiliary extruders feeding predetermined die channels with extrusion materials having different colours. This stripe identification is particularly used for a core constituting the central strand of an optical cable.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1982Date of Patent: October 22, 1985Assignees: Societe Anonyme de Telecommunications, Societe Industrielle de Liaisons ElectriquesInventor: Bernard M. Patent number: 4387466Abstract: The system comprises two terminal stations connected through a two-wire transmission line including bidirectional repeaters. The duration of each half-duplex cycle between successive emissions of two digital packets from a terminal station is independent of the length or range of the line. Patent number: 4375013Abstract: A digit rate reducing system for PCM signals comprises a predictor stage, an automatic gain control stage, and a quantizer stage for adaptive quantizing. The predictor stage includes a predictor and a subtractor for subtracting from a sample x.sub.n of the PCM input signal a predicted signal x.sub.pn derived from preceding samples. The subtractor provides a difference signal d.sub.n representing prediction error to the automatic gain control (AGC) stage. A divider in the AGC stage divides the difference signal d.sub.n by m, providing a divided signal e.sub.n to the quantizer stage. In this last stage, a quantizer encodes the divided signal e.sub.n into a signal Y.sub.n of reduced rate. The predictor uses a first adder which receives the predicted signal x.sub.pn and a reconstituted signal d.sub.n derived from the reduced rate signal Y.sub.n ; a plurality of shift registers and associated multipliers; and a second adder connected to the outputs of the multiplier. Shift registers T.sub.1 . . . T.sub.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1980Date of Patent: February 22, 1983Assignee: Societe Anonyme de TelecommunicationsInventors: Denis Cointot, Patrice Langlois, Guy de Passoz

Patent number: 4365247Abstract: The system relieves a transmission working line included in a bidirectional digital link having N working lines and P spare lines between two end stations. In response to the detection of a transmission fault on the working line, the switching units of the stations perform a first exchange of order signals via a selected free spare line, and then a first switch-over of the data related to the faulty working line to the spare line. After the faulty working line has been repaired, to prevent continued data transmission along the spare line, a second exchange of order signals triggers a second switch-over so the system reverts to normal operation. The second exchange of order signals takes place along the repaired line while data related to the repaired line continues to be transmitted via the spare line. During the repair of the preceding faulty working line, a relief procedure of a high priority working line may take place via the selected spare line.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1981Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Societe Anonyme de TelecommunicationsInventors: Gilbert L.
