Abstract: The system comprises a processor, a routing unit (3), linked to the procer, in order to be linked to a line (10) of a telephone network (11) and to an associated telephone handset (12), a modem (4) linked to the processor and to the routing unit (3), an analysis and printing assembly and a control console, which are linked to the processor. It also includes a reversible radio module (2), linked to the routing unit (3) and to the processor in order to communicate by cordless link either, in handset mode, with a cordless telephone base linked to the telephone line, the associated handset being linked to the routing unit (3), or, in base mode, with the associated handset (12), the routing unit (3) then being linked to the telephone line (10).

Abstract: A device for emulating a personal computer printer with a facsimile-machine printer (14) including a buffer memory (21) which receives data from the personal computer (3), circuits (22, 24) coupled to both a command buffer circuit (23) and a calculation block (25). The circuits (22, 24), command buffer circuit (23) and the calculation block (25) control the facsimile-machine printer (14) in response to the data, determine the availability the facsimile-machine printer (14) by effecting cyclic scanning of the facsimile-machine and control the printing of the facsimile-machine (14) printer in response to the data when the facsimile-machine printer (14) is determined to be available for printing.

Abstract: An electromagnetic actuator rotatable about an axis including a stator magnet circuit (2) with an inner pole (9) having a central core (11), a first pole shoe (12) forming the continuation of the core at one axial end of the stator circuit and extending through an angle of approximately 180.degree., and a single coil (3) coaxially surrounding the central core (11), the core (11) and the coil (3) being off-center relatively to the axis of rotation; and an outer pole (10) having a lateral armature (13.sub.2) in the form of a tubular sector outside the coil (3) and parallel to the core (11), and a second pole shoe (14) forming the continuation of the armature (13.sub.2) at the axial end of the stator circuit and extending through an angle of approximately 180.degree.; the ends of the central core (11) and of the armature (13) which are remote from the respective pole shoes being mutually in contact.

Abstract: A facsimile machine adapted to be connected to a data transmission line ( which it shares with a terminal (18), comprising connecting means (1, 20, 40) adapted to be connected, at the input, to the line (19) and to transmit, to a data processing interface (80) of the facsimile machine, differential signaling signals of the line (19) in order, as a function of these signals, directly to connect the interface (80) to the line (19), in which the connecting means (1, 20, 40) comprise a differential amplifier (20) connected to the line (19) by two high-impedance inputs.

Abstract: A cartridge (1) for loading a thermal transfer printing ribbon (10) into a thermal transfer printer is disclosed. The cartridge (1) is adapted to receive and detachably hold a ribbon pay-out roll (5) and a ribbon take-up roll (6) in their operating positions relative to each other. Each cartridge is provided with means (8, 9) for fixing the cartridge (1) to the printer while leaving the fixing means (8, 9) exposed.

Abstract: A rate gyro or a gyroscope includes a resonator having four mutually parallel identical beams integral with a common square base and projecting from the base at corners of a virtual square. The beams have a same resonant frequency in two directions parallel to the two sides of the square base. It further has first transducers for vibrating each beam in a first direction orthogonal to the beams, connected to a driving circuit and second transducers for detecting an amplitude of vibration of the beams in a second direction each orthogonal to a respective first direction.

Abstract: Printing apparatus including a printing head (1), which apparatus comprises a buffer memory (7), designed to be filled, at a defined speed, by data representing lines to be printed on a printing medium (11) and to be emptied line by line for each printing of a line by the head, and computation member (6) designed to determine, prior to the printing of each line, the volume of buffer memory (7) remaining available (L-xi), to determine therefrom a printing speed (Xj) of the line in question and accordingly to control member (3) for adjusting the printing speed (Xj) of the head (1).

Abstract: A card reader that is resistant to vandalism is disclosed. The card recei (1), includes a slot (4) for receiving the front part of a card (3), and card reader (1L) using it. The card receiver (1) includes a bending element (6, 17P) applying, to the card (3), a torsional moment with respect to a bearing lip (5) of the slot (4) or to an opposed second bearing element (10), so that the card (3), once broken, can be pushed in by another card so as to lose contact with the bearing lip (5) and to drop into a cavity (12).

Abstract: Thermal printer comprising a thermal printing head (201), elements (202) for driving a paper medium (220) in front of the printing head (201), elements (204) for introducing sheets of paper (220), means for extracting sheets of paper (220), means for driving a thermal-transfer printing ribbon (214) in front of the printing head (201), the printer being designed to receive a roll of paper (233) and the extraction elements being designed to unroll the roll of paper (233).

Abstract: The apparatus comprises a light source, generally a laser diode, providing beam that is modulated by an input signal and is controlled for scanning, at a rate fixed by a clock, along a generatrix line of a photosensitive drum which is rotated by a motor; it further includes a memory for storing input data representing successive pixels of all lines in a page which were scanned for transmission, and a computer for determining the length to be reproduced of the transmitted document, and for determining the width, necessary to avoid truncating the infor mation contained in any of the scan lines, in the width direction. The computer calculates the minimum vertical reduction ratio Rv and the minimum horizontal reduction ratio Rh that should be adopted in order to enable the useful information to be reproduced in length and width and selects the smaller ratios.

Abstract: The facsimile machine comprises a processor (10), means (20) for connection o a telephone line (8), means (20) for connection to a main telephone (7), a ring detector (21), a module (17) for recognition of the nature of incoming calls, and a printer (14). It comprises means (23'; 26) for direct connection to at least one terminal (2; 3) and means (20; 25) for connection of the terminal (2; 3) to the telephone line (8), and it is adapted, in case of connection between the terminal and the telephone line, to note events on the line and therefore recognize their nature, and thus to switch the line (8) to the facsimile machine or the terminal (2; 3) as a function of the nature of the events. The terminal may be a videotex terminal (2) or an answering/recording machine (3). These two terminals may both be connected to the facsimile machine.

Abstract: A transflective optical filter comprises a single transparent or transluscent substrate; a colored slice made up of a plurality of layers, each corresponding to one color out of at least two colors; a light diffusing layer; and an opaque mask on which the marks to be displayed in color are represented by transparent zones, the colored slice and the mask consisting of photographic emulsions. A method for making that filter involves multiple exposures of a same film having a multi-colored "slice" and a monochrome photosensitive layer.

Abstract: Variable-reluctance absolute-angular-position sensor including at least one tator member (A). The stator member includes at least one fixed armature (2) made of soft ferromagnetic material, with a central core defining two mutually opposed transverse faces (9, 10) shaped in order to define an air gap (11) of non-constant thickness between them. At least one annular coil (4) surrounds the cores; and at least one rotor member (B) which includes at least one disc (3) extends into the abovementioned air gap and rotates about an axis (X) substantially coaxial with the core. The disc is made of a soft ferromagnetic material or a non-magnetic material which is a good electrical conductor.

Abstract: A Minitel videotex terminal is connected to the processor of a facsimile machine and internal switches are controlled in response to activation of a man-machine interface key to permit the higher speed modem of the facsimile machine to be selectively utilized in lieu of the slower speed modem of the Minitel terminal. The arrangement permits other components of the Minitel terminal and the facsimile machine to operate in selective combinations.

Abstract: A cassette for thermal-transfer printing ribbon (2), designed to be fitted in a printer comprising a printing head (21) in front of which sheets of paper (30) are intended to pass and comprising a housing (3; 103) for accommodating a delivery spool (4; 104), a housing (5; 105) for accommodating a take-up spool (6; 106), means (8; 108) designed to be driven in rotation and drive the take-up spool (6; 106), a window (9; 109) being made between the two housings (3, 5; 103, 105) and designed to allow interaction of the printing head (21) and the ribbon (2) extending between the two housings (3, 5; 103, 105).

Abstract: A switchable data rate ISDN terminal for group G.sub.4 facsimile operation s disclosed. A decoder in the terminal automatically responds to a hexadecimal 7F formed by an extra bit added to the HDLC communications-starting flag when a 64 kb/s system transmits a 56 kb/s communication. The decoder responds by causing a speed controller in the terminal to reduce the effective data transfer rate.

Abstract: A throttle control system includes a pedal (10) and a mechanical linkage , 12, 13) to a casing (6). Stepper motor (5) has a stator mounted on the casing (6), so that as the casing (6) is rotated, it will also move the stator of the stepper motor (5). Stepper motor (5) also controls the position of a shaft (4) which carries a butterfly valve (1) regulating the fuel flow in an internal combustion engine. Position sensor (8) senses angular changes of position between casing (6) and shaft (4). Position changes in shaft (4) resulting from operation of pedal (10) and linkage (11, 12, 13) are signalled to microprocessor (7) which operates motor (5) to provide corrective rotation of shaft (4).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for fastening a holding member (6) for the springs (4) that apply pressure to the counter-rolls (3) for driving sheets of paper on the frame (2) of a machine, such as a facsimile machine, is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of:1) pressing the holding members against the springs so as to compress the springs against the rollers;2) positioning the holding members (8, 11, 12) relative to locator tabs and ribs of the frame;3) causing and maintaining the aforementioned positive placement by the force of compression of the aforementioned elastic springs.

Abstract: The facsimile machine comprises a processor 10, a modem 18, a switch 20 cecting to a data transmission line 8, means for connecting to at least one main telephone set 7, switches 6, 61 connecting the telephone set 7 to the data transmission line 8, a module 17 recognizing the nature of the incoming calls, and a printer 14. The modem 18 is a combined modem of fax and videotex. Means 10 are provided so that in case of connection between videotex modem part 18 and the data transmission line 8, the events on line 8 shall be detected and their nature recognized, and thus the line 8 shall be routed onto the facsimile modem part or the videotex modem part 18 as a function of the nature of these events.
