Abstract: Measurement of a leading edge of an instrument passing from a first medium having a first density to a second medium having a second density using a displacement sensor alone. In particular, a displacement signal, a velocity signal, and an acceleration signal measured from or derived from a displacement sensor are analyzed to determine when the leading edge of the instrument passes from the first material to the second material as the leading edge of the instrument is advanced relative to the material. For instance, the measurement may be used to output an occurrence signal that indicates to a user that the instrument has passed from the first medium to the second medium. Additionally, a length measurement of the path of the instrument when passing from the first medium to the second medium may be recorded, and/or the instrument may be controlled (e.g., the instrument may be stopped).

  • Patent number: 11517327
Abstract: Multi-directional drilling of a bone to create a perforation of bone cortex. The disclosure presents methods of using a drill having a measurement system to advance a drill bit through a bone with detection of penetration or eruption of the leading edge of the drill bit through the exterior of the cortex layer of the bone. In this regard, operation of the drill may be controlled to limit soft tissue damage adjacent to the distal side of the bone. The drill bit may be at least partially retracted through a first bore, repositioned, and one or more additional bores may be created, all while monitoring for penetration of the leading edge of the drill bit relative to the cortical layer. In turn, a perforated distal side of the cortical layer of the bone may be created that creates a desired weakness in the bone, which may be useful in various operations including when performing a corticotomy or the like.

  • Patent number: 11516967
Abstract: A harvester travels along a route within a field and selectively harvests edible crowns ready for harvesting. As the harvester travels along the route, a position of the harvester and/or the edible crowns may be determined using an encoder, imaging device(s), and/or navigational system(s). For example, image(s) captured by the imaging device(s) may be used to determine a location of the edible crowns and/or global positioning satellite (GPS) coordinates may indicate a location of the harvester within the field. These locations may be used for instructing harvesting components to harvest the edible crowns. For example, the harvester may include robotic arms having end effectors that harvest the edible crowns. Knowing the location of the edible crowns and/or the harvester therefore allows for the accurate placement of the end effectors for harvesting the edible crowns.

Abstract: A method for analyzing social network accounts includes querying a first social network for data about a first user account associated with the first social network. The received data is stored in a social graph structure and used to determine derived characteristics of the first user account. The derived characteristics are quantified and used to generate a first feature vector for the first user account. The first feature vector of the first user account is compared with a second feature vector of a second user account associated with a second social network different from the first social network. Based on the comparison of the first and second feature vectors, it is determined whether the first user account and the second user account are associated with a same entity.

  • Patent number: 11512468
Abstract: A truss bracing system for roof trusses is disclosed. The truss bracing system comprises of a lateral brace and a diagonal brace connected through a pivot point. Both the lateral brace and diagonal brace include a first support member and a second support member where the first support member is angled relative to, and preferably perpendicular to, the second support member. The pivot point allows the diagonal brace to rotate relative to the lateral brace. That is, the truss bracing system has a closed configuration with the diagonal brace resting adjacent and parallel to the lateral brace and an extended configuration with the diagonal brace rotated relative to the lateral brace, such that the diagonal brace is angled relative to the lateral brace. Thus, the truss bracing system provides both lateral and diagonal support to the trusses to which it is attached.
