  • Publication number: 20240377650
Abstract: The disclosure below is directed to optical/photonic devices and systems configured to control polarization state of light for selective privacy protection in optical imaging. In particular, the various embodiments disclosed below provide an application of polarization manipulation techniques with multiple optical polarization filters to enable partial or full privacy while maintaining functioning of image-based spatial mapping and localization algorithms used in video devices such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and robot/drone cameras. In the disclosed example approaches, the various polarization filters are configured to allow no or negligibly small amount of light from the privacy protected regions of a scene into the cameras in a privacy mode and to reject 100% of all light and enable full privacy in a block mode. The disclosed approaches also dynamically account for orientation changes during operation of the camera devices such that privacy is dynamically protected in real-time.

  • Patent number: 12141077
Abstract: This application is directed to memory management in an electronic device. A memory includes a plurality of superblocks and receives a plurality of access requests. The electronic device stores information of an ordered list of superblocks in a cache, and each of a first subset of superblocks has a hint value and is ordered based on the hint value. In response to the plurality of access requests, the electronic device accumulates respective hint values of the first subset of superblocks and dynamically determines positions of the first subset of superblocks in the ordered list of superblocks based on the respective hint values of the first subset of superblocks. The ordered list of superblocks is pruned to generate a pruned list of superblocks. Based on the pruned list of superblocks, the electronic device converts a second subset of superblocks from a first memory type to a second memory type.

  • Patent number: 12140463
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods disclosed herein relate to configuring a light emitter to direct emitted light having a preselected wavelength through a liquid retained by a collapsible reservoir to a light sensor disposed in the collapsible reservoir, determining a distance separating the light emitter from the light sensor across the collapsible reservoir interior based on the amount of emitted light absorbed by the liquid, and determining the volume of the liquid retained by the collapsible reservoir based on the distance. The liquid may comprise an active compound formulation. An excipient may be added to the liquid in an excipient concentration governing a linear relationship between distance and light absorption at the preselected wavelength. The distance may be determined as a function of the linear relationship. The risks of abrupt therapy cessation or premature refill may be advantageously reduced by providing real-time remaining liquid volume measurements as the collapsible reservoir collapses.

  • Patent number: 12139743
Abstract: A method of detecting a state of a lipid membrane in a cell of a nanopore based sequencing chip is disclosed. A lipid membrane is coupled with an integrating capacitor, wherein the lipid membrane is between a working electrode and a counter electrode. An alternating current (AC) voltage is applied to the counter electrode. A voltage across the integrating capacitor is periodically sampled by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A change in the sampled voltage across the integrating capacitor in response to an intermediate change in the AC voltage is determined. A state of the lipid membrane is determined based on the determined change in the sampled voltage across the integrating capacitor in response to the intermediate change in the AC voltage.

  • Patent number: 12141918
Abstract: A flood footprint estimation system that can generate a requested flood footprint is described herein. For example, the flood footprint estimation system can estimate water surface elevations at various points along a stream or river. The flood footprint estimation system can then perform a smoothing operation on the estimated water surface elevations to generate a trend line or curve of the estimated water surface elevations in which each point of the trend line or curve corresponds to a water surface elevation value that is no greater than any of the water surface elevation values of the previous points of the trend line or curve. The flood footprint estimation system can use the trend line or curve to perform an iterative water expansion to determine which geographic locations may flood. Results of the iterative water expansion can be provided to a user device in the form of a user interface.
