Patent number: 9455549Abstract: A method for sweeping an electromagnetic radiation source (12) to produce single mode operation having an optimized side-mode suppression ratio over a continuous range of wavelengths within a prescribed temporal profile, the electromagnetic radiation source is configured to output electromagnetic radiation at a given wavelength based upon parameters. The method includes determining a set of parameter combinations that satisfy a condition for a desired set of wavelengths and a maximum side mode suppression ratio over the range of wavelengths. The set of parameter combinations define sub-paths for transitioning from one wavelength to another wavelength. Combinations of select sub-paths provide a multivariate path for transitioning over the range of wavelengths. The method also includes controlling the semiconductor laser to emit electromagnetic radiation over the range of wavelengths by traversing the multivariate path in a desired manner.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2012Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: Insight Photonic Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Michael Minneman, Jason Ensher, Michael Crawford

Patent number: 9455565Abstract: A protection circuit or electronic circuit breaker protects and supplies power to a device load. The protection circuit includes a current mirror, a reference load that models the device load, and a comparator circuit that outputs a signal indicating that a fault has been detected in the device load during turn on. The current mirror provides an amount of current in proportion to the current supplied to the device load. The same proportion is used to calculate the capacitance and resistance of the reference load. Accordingly, if the device load has no fault, the reference voltage remains proportional to the output voltage to the device load. However, if the device load has a fault, the reference voltage will increase faster than the output voltage such that the comparator will generate a fault signal that turns off a transistor pass element that was supplying current to the device load.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2015Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: Lenovo Enterprise Solutions (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.Inventors: Jamaica L. Barnette, Raymond M. Clemo
