Abstract: A device controls each antenna to transmit at least one first UL pilot signal and to receive, for each first UL pilot signals DL data encoded according to the respective first UL pilot signal. The receive properties of the DL data are combined and a second UL pilot signal is determined based on the combined receive properties. The second UL pilot signal is repeatedly transmitted. The techniques may be applied in a massive multi-input multi-output scenario.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a mobile device (24) comprising an interface unit (31) for interfacing to a cellular communication network comprising a plurality of cells (12, 13) and for interfacing directly to another mobile device (25) within a transmission range (62) of the mobile device (24). According to the method, at least one reachable cell (12) of the communication network within the transmission range (62) of the mobile device (24) is detected by the mobile device (24), and a cell information concerning the at least one cell (12) is transmitted to the other mobile device (25) via a direct communication (51).
Abstract: A technique for obtaining caller-originated alert signals in IP-based communication sessions is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the technique may be realized as a method comprising the steps of: receiving, from a first user equipment and via a first communication channel, a request to initiate a communication session, the request being received at a second user equipment; in response to the request, causing a phonepage server to transmit, via a second communication channel, a caller-originated alert to the second user equipment; and rendering the caller-originated alert to alert a user associated with the second user equipment.
Abstract: The invention discloses a method and a portable device for focusing an image in the device (10), which device (10) comprises; a first image recording arrangement (24a) for recording images of an user (50) of the device (10); a second image recording arrangement (24b) comprising an autofocus arrangement for recording images of the environment surrounding the device (10); and a display arrangement (22) for reproducing the recorded images of the environment surrounding the device (10), which method comprises the step of: obtaining a plurality of gazing directions of the user (50) from images recorded by the first image recording arrangement (24a); selecting focusing areas depending on the obtained gazing directions; processing said at least one image of the environment so as to create a final image that is focused within areas defined by the focusing areas.

Abstract: A mobile terminal reduces its power consumption by selectively switching between a diversity mode and a non-diversity mode. The mobile terminal monitors the total output power of two or more of its transmitters, and selectively switches between the diversity mode and the non-diversity mode based on the total output power. The mobile terminal may also selectively switch between the diversity and non-diversity modes based on a difference in output power levels between the two or more transmitters.

Abstract: A mobile terminal device includes a display section having a display screen, an input section having a touch input region on the display screen, and a control section for displaying a plurality of keys. The display screen is provided as a software keyboard where a touch operation on a specific key causes an input of the specific key. In the specific display region on the display screen that can display operation keys on the software keyboard, the control section selects these keys from a previously prepared set of input candidate key groups. In response to a specific operation on the specific display region, the control section allows the plurality of keys to be displayed on the specific display region. In response to touch on a desired key in the specific display region, the control section determines that an input of the key has been performed.

Abstract: A method for generating content data for a video file (200) is provided. The video file (200) comprises a video sequence and the content data (201) for characterizing the video sequence. According to the method, at least one face containing image (204, 205, 207, 209, 212) is determined by scanning at least a part of the video sequence for face containing images. Each face containing image contains at least one representation of a face. Based on the determined face containing image a picture containing the face is generated and assigned to the content data (201) of the video file (200).

Abstract: An input interface (3) comprises a display (23), a window (21) overlaid on the display (23), and a housing (13-15) supporting the window (21). A first sensor arrangement (31, 32) is configured to sense a position of a touch action on the window (21) in two dimensions. The first sensor arrangement (31, 32) comprises a first plurality of conductive traces (32). A second sensor arrangement (41-43) is configured to sense a magnitude of a force applied by the touch action onto the window (21). The second sensor arrangement (41-43) comprises a second plurality of conductive traces (41, 42) and a force sensing material (43). The first plurality of conductive traces (32) and the second plurality of conductive traces (41, 42) are positioned on an inner face (30) of the window (21) and attached to the inner face (30) of the window (21).
Abstract: When a user removes a camera phone from a pocket or other storage location and raises it in a pre-defined motion in front of his face, the pre-defined motion activates the camera. When the camera phone decelerates/stabilizes in the user's hand in the correct orientation to take a picture, autofocus occurs and the camera automatically records images/photographs. When the user presses the shutter release, a camera application opens on the camera phone display to show the current image and that image is recorded. The previous automatically recorded images also may be available for viewing by the user. If after removing the camera from the storage location, the user does something other than pressing the shutter release, the automatically recorded images will be automatically discarded. When a brief photographic opportunity occurs and the user has little time to react, the photographic moment still can be captured.
