Abstract: A Graphical User Interface (GUI) for a user device provides an interface for communicating data with nodes in a cloud computing network. The GUI has a communication layer for establishing a dedicated communications session with the cloud computing network, and a cloud interface layer that displays data and information received from the cloud computing network to the user on a display of the device. The GUI usually remains off the visible display screen, but is moved onto the visible display screen over a current user workspace responsive to detecting a first user event. The contents of the GUI may be generated dynamically based on a context of the user workspace. The GUI is moved back to its “out-of-view” position responsive to detecting a subsequent user event, and is translucent to allow the user to see the workspace through the GUI.

Abstract: A gaming device having a controller allows a user of the device to play a multiplayer on-line game as a member of a team. The controller identifies the team members, and generates strategic data for distribution to the team members. The strategic data may be tactical data used by the team to achieve a predetermined objective of the on-line game. The controller also detects the occurrence of a predetermined event. Whenever a predetermined event occurs, the controller distributes the strategic data to one or more of the other team members.

Abstract: A device may include an image display component to display an image that includes a subject, where the image has a header portion, and to display subject information that includes a communication identifier related to the subject, and wherein the subject information is stored in the header portion. The device may include a transceiver to contact the subject via the communication identifier. The device may include a processor to provide the image and the subject information to the display component, to receive a request to contact the subject, to retrieve the communication identifier from the header portion, and to send the communication identifier to the transceiver to cause the transceiver to contact the subject.

Abstract: An audio headset system for a mobile phone or other audio player includes a pair of earpieces, each including a speaker in a housing and configured to provide audio output, the housing configured for positioning with respect to a user's ear to direct audio output to the ear; and a pair of accelerometers configured to provide acceleration information representative of acceleration of the respective earpieces, wherein together the acceleration information provided from both accelerometers is representative of angular motion in a horizontal plane of the head of a user. The angular motion may be used as inputs to carry out functions of the mobile phone, e.g., to provide sound adjustments for three dimensional stereophonic sound, to provide navigation information to a user, to play games, and so on.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a Rake receiver for receiving wireless signals, wherein the Rake receiver includes a predetermined number of fingers and a combiner. The Rake receiver also includes a channel detection circuit configured to identify at least one channel tap in a received signal, and a placement circuit configured to place a finger of the predetermined number of fingers at a location corresponding to the at least one identified channel tap. If all of the predetermined number of fingers are not associated with a corresponding channel tap, unplaced fingers of the predetermined number of fingers are placed at locations based on a signal-to-interference ratio estimate at an output of the combiner.

Abstract: Methods, portable electronic devices and servers are provided for downloading applications to the portable electronic device from the server based on a geographical location of the portable electronic device. One or more applications are stored at the server. The one or more applications have an associated region and duration. A current position of the portable electronic device is determined. Ones of the stored applications are downloaded from the server to the portable electronic device if the current position of the portable electronic device is within the associated region.

Abstract: An approach provides updating of weather information on a mobile device. Motion of a mobile device is detected, wherein the mobile device is configured to execute a weather application for presenting weather information to a user. Update of the weather information is retrieved in response to the detected motion.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing interference and a mobile terminal using the method and apparatus. The method includes: selecting a display mode of a pixel, for a frequency falling into a receiving band range of radio communication, according to a corresponding relation between the pixel to be displayed and a strength value of interference induced in the frequency. The present invention may not only further reduce interference brought by the MIPI high-speed data transmission to radio communication receiver, but also have effect on those bands lower than 1 GHZ, lower the requirements on hardware and hence lower hardware cost, and occupy no design space.
