  • Patent number: 9253614
Abstract: A communication system receives a communication for a phone number and determines if the phone number is shared by a wireless phone and a packet appliance. If the phone number is shared, then the communication system determines if the wireless phone is logged-in to a wireless network and if the packet appliance is logged-in to a packet network. If the wireless phone is logged-in, then the communication system transfers the communication to the wireless network for delivery to the wireless phone. If the packet appliance is logged-in, then the communication system transfers the communication to the packet network for delivery to the packet appliance. The communication may be simultaneously transferred to the wireless network and the packet network if the phone number is shared and the wireless phone and the packet appliance are both logged-in.

  • Patent number: 9253686
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for assigning wireless-network technologies to base stations within a base station cluster. A first set of base stations is associated to form a first base station cluster. Once associated into the base station cluster, the total estimated demand on each wireless-network technology is determined for each of the base stations in the cluster. The technology having the highest total estimated demand is also determined for each of the base stations in the cluster. A first RF channel in the cluster is assigned the technology for which the majority of the base stations in the cluster have the highest total estimated demand. This process is carried out for the remaining RF channels in the cluster.

  • Patent number: 9247043
Abstract: In a communication system, a call processing system receives a first signaling message for a special service call indicating a special service number. The call processing system processes the special service number to determine a first carrier identity and an organization identity for a responsible organization that is responsible for a routing database system for the special service number. The call processing system processes the organization identity for the responsible organization to select a second carrier identity. The call processing system transfers a second signaling message that indicates the second carrier identity. In some examples, a communication node receives the second signaling message and processes the second carrier identity to route the special service call to the responsible organization.

  • Patent number: 9241359
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for delaying authentication of a mobile device following a radio link failure, and thereby enabling the mobile device to quickly attach to a current control component associated with a network, are provided. The method includes receiving, at the current control component, a message indicating that the radio link failure occurred at a previous control component. Upon receiving the message, the mobile device is attached to the current control component. Authentication of the mobile device is delayed such that authentication of the mobile device is initiated subsequent to the attaching of the mobile device to the current control component. This delayed authentication ensures that a communication session in which the mobile device was engaged prior to the radio link failure is uninterrupted.

  • Patent number: 9241350
Abstract: A wireless communication device identifies the access network type in the Mobile IP (MIP) Registration Request (RRQ). The wireless communication device uses a wireless communication network to access the IP communication network. The wireless communication device initiates a switch to another wireless communication network. In response to initiating the switch, the wireless communication device determines the network type of the new wireless communication network and generates a MIP RRQ identifying the access network type. After the MIP Registration Response (RRP) is received, the wireless communication device sends and retrieves IP data with the IP communication network via the new wireless communication network.

  • Patent number: 9237547
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for managing CDMA reference cell identifiers (IDs) in a long-term-evolution (LTE) network using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). A network node subscribes to RF coverage information and location information of eNodeBs and CDMA base stations within the network. After receiving this information from the eNodeBs and the CDMA base stations, the network node uses the information to determine CDMA base stations that are in proximity to each eNodeB. The eNodeBs in the network subscribe to CDMA reference cell IDs of those CDMA base stations that have been determined by the network node to be in proximity to the respective eNodeB. After receiving the CDMA reference cell IDs from the network node, the eNodeB utilizes the received information to select a CDMA base station to utilize when a network customer's UE requires circuit-switched services.
